This is not a suggestion and I have no expectation that it would ever be possible but. While looking around for 2+ person tablet base board like game I thought would it not be great to have card hunter displayed on a tablet on the table in front of several players. Each having their card selections and character stats showing on individual phones / tablets. The main central tablet would show all visible actions like moving, target selection, showing damage and cards used, while individual devices would be used make your card selection in private. This would really blur the the lines between tabletop board games / CCG's and computer based ones further than the card hunters current positioning as well as make a very social experience. Things like setup and browsing decks etc. could be done on the larger device before starting play by each player in turn rather than dealing with smaller phone screens for this.
This post is inspiring. Specifically, I think it would be great if it inspires Card Hunter Home Edition. I'm imagining a sort of "lite" version without the singleplayer campaign or character persistence. Instead, you and your friends get together, equip a party and adventure in a procedurally generated dungeon. You get the fun atmosphere of a board game party with all the advantages of a cyber scorekeeper.
That would be fantastic, and technically possible. There are already games that use more than one tablet, running different things on the different screens. I've seen Time Crisis 2nd Strike and iGunCon do this for a shooter game. I wouldn't say they do it WELL, but your idea is certainly better than theirs.
Yes a CO-OP mode with a single character each would be excellent. after ruminating on this a little it occurred to me this is pretty much the play style that the new Wii will be promoting just with a vertical TV rather than a horizontal tablet. We may see many more games using multiple devices in a social setting over the next few years as every one else runs to emulate Nintendo with the capabilities of smart phones and tablets the hardware hurdle is starting to be dealt with.
