[Bug?] Firestarter + Burn + Reliable mail = 0?

    In a PvP match my wizard with Firestarter attached had put a 2 damage burn on a character wearing reliable mail. When the burn damage was processed it dealt 0 damage. Is this an intended reading of the card text as the Firestarter damage only being added if the damage makes it through armor successfully?

    Does this not make Firestarter a very very useless card? Don't other Cards like this increase the damage even if reduced by armor?

    Burning effects are the only ones where a single card has such a good chance for hitting a target multiple times. That is, Duration 2 or 3 means that your Kindler or Firestarter can do 2 or 3 times as much damage as Bruiser or Slicer. Unless the enemy does something to prevent it. Thus it's a special sort of risk/reward challenge.

    Well, yes, burning is the only ones where a single card has such a good chance for hitting a target multiple times. That is why the damage of the card itself and the burning damage is that low. But the target has the chance to prevent this damage everytime, while a single chop has to get through the armor only once. So the chances that Kindler or Firestarter do 0 damage are very high, while the damage of Bruiser or Slicer is always applied. (Exept of blocking in BOTH cases.)

    Btw, is there more than one card with a burning duration of 3 a mage could use?
     
  8. Glob of Flame is the only card that burns for 3 turns and for 3 damage, however, the other card that burns for 3 damage is Flame Jet, which can hit a lot of people if lined up correctly

    This isn't really the thread for arguing strategy, but don't forget that we can keep following this thought. So the enemy must retain Armor for every single round in order to be "immune" every single round: all counterstrategy from the fire-using Wizard applies. And then, the person currently on fire is also stuck with questions of discard at the end of the round: the need to retain some other cards may convince the player to abandon the Armor . . . or a single moment of forgetfulness may do so as well.

    Or on the other hand the basic use of attachment removers could eliminate the Burning card and bypass this discussion.

    Or we could, in fact, keep going in circles, but I'm sure you get the idea.

    Well, you started arguing strategy, not me. And yes, I get the idea, but just still disagree with your point of view. Whatever, they will change the text and kindler and firestarter will stay very useless.
