Club Item Rareness Bug

    Hey,

I've received gold streaked nuggets (uncommon) in the check but only a Perforating Wand (common) as my club item. Shouldn't club items be as rare as the rarest item in the chest?

It was out of the first brown chest of the troglodytes mission

I couldn't find any threads on a quick search so thought I would just report Sorry if this has already been reported. Hope this helps.

Rare as the rarest guaranteed item, I believe it says. It's for those chests that has a set rarity drop (as some adventures do) as well as the mp chests. Not a bug, but something I don't think is very clear to most players in it's current wording.

Yep, I'm struggling to word it as clearly as possible.

The current wording is "Your club reward item will be at least as rare as the rarest item you would otherwise receive. For example, if you open a chest containing a guaranteed rare item, the club reward item will also be a rare item or better".

Any suggestion as to how to make this clearer would be appreciated!

"Your club reward item's rarity will at least match the chest's guaranteed item rarity." ?
    Still feels a little clunky.

    Actually how about
"Your club reward item's rarity will at least match the chest rarity."
(Chest rarity is the same as the guaranteed item rarity correct?)

I have to say . . . I'm a proponent of the idea that "all systems are valid until proven otherwise," and I can totally understand a system where "first you check the minimum rarity guaranteed in a loot heap, then add another loot item of the same minimum rarity, and then they're all selected randomly at or above those limitations, so you might wind up with varied rarities anyway," but I just don't think it's worth it.

Tell me: why use this "highest guaranteed minimum" system at all?

Is there any logical reason to tie the MINIMUM value of this bonus loot to the value of the HIGHEST guaranteed MINIMUM in the rest of the loot; a value which, I remind you, varies in NO LOGICAL PROGRESSION in the entire free single-player campaign? Sure, there's a clear progression in multiplayer, but remember that you've set guaranteed loot sporadically throughout single-player. Remember that you had to demote the amazing White Star Diamond (among others) to a Rare because it was messing with the club; a result that kinda renders disappointing the two-adventures-long hunt for the diamond.

Seriously, you might as well change the club so it just gives another item. Period.

Unless you can report some logic for why it should be otherwise, the tiny loss in rarity will be overcompensated by the large savings in customer sanity. And this way, people would also complain less about the "better loot guaranteed for people who pay money" deal.

Yeah, I suggested that earlier - removing the "guaranteed" tag would solve the issues where Joe had to downgrade adventure specific drops, people not understanding the wording (and lack of ideas for a better one, from community or devs). That being said, if the guaranteed rarity is the biggest selling point of the club, it might be a problem - but as I see the club needing to be cheaper anyway, this is the way to go I think.

Or, potentially - only have rarity affect outspoken guaranteed drops, like the premiums and multiplayer chests, whereas regular chests are random.

We both suggested it, Pengw1n. We suggested it together. Or something.

Alternately, they really could set the club item to match the rarity of the highest occurring loot--this is what players seem to expect from the description. The "guaranteed" part is often behind the scenes, whereas what actually drops onto the page is immediately understandable.

Since "guaranteed" is hard to see, I doubt it's the current selling point. Again, I'd like to hear an actual logical explanation for why someone would use this rule. People don't expect it, or understand it, and so I really don't think it compels people, unlike the basic "spend money and you get more loot" pitch.

Lol, I wasn't trying for the credit hogging - I just meant it to put some historical strength behind: I agree with you.

I can see an issue with people already believing it's the highest rarity in the chest that's the "guarantee" - which might upset people that buy it for that reason. Either way - needs to be 100% clear to avoid ****storms.

Why not instead of comparing it to the other loot, compare it to the chest that contains it? "Your club reward item has a minimum rarity based on the chest you open alongside it; If you open a Rare Gold chest, your club member item will always be Rare or better!". Then I guess it would just take a couple new chest graphics to telegraph this point. Common Wood, Uncommon Steel, Rare Gold, Epic Mythril? (Is there a chest with a guarenteed legendary?)

I agree with this solution. The current wording and implementation is very difficult to parse and understand, especially for inexperienced gamers. If there was a visual indication of chest quality and even some text underneath it that said "rare chest" or "uncommon chest", it would be much easier to understand that the club item is going to be, at a minimum, a rare or an uncommon. Currently, you can get an uncommon, and a rare, in the chest but only get a common item from the club. This can be pretty disappointing.

  11. Indeed agreed with this problem.

I, too, was expecting to get an equal/better reward for every chest I've opened and that's why I've paid 10$/month but now, kinda disappointed as well.

Not sure anymore if bug or not, anyway not very rewarding.

I opened golden chest (magnificent chest?) and received:
    lvl12 uncommon staff
    lvl9 uncommon treasure
    lvl12 rare shield
    lvl9 epic robe
    Club reward: lvl12 uncommon shield

Mission was Goblins in the Woods.

That sounds correct. An ordinary "last fight in an adventure" chest guarantees an Uncommon item. Your non-Club items happened to go up to Epic by chance and chance alone--your Club item happened NOT to go above Uncommon by chance and chance alone. Play again and you'll get different results.

Here's a suggestion - make the club item always the same rarity as the best 'ordinary' item. So if the last item is Uncommon, you get an Uncommon club item as well, and if the last item is Epic, you get an Epic club item as wall.

Personally I don't care in the slightest, but it might be comforting to those players who greatly resent the club item. Also it would be reassuring to players who fear you cannot succeed without paying, because it will make it inescapably obvious that paying for the club gets you less than twice what you get for free. And that is a ratio where no reasonable player could complain about 'pay to win'.
