Perhaps each class could get one slot that could be either of 2 class of items. For example: The priest's shield slot could be a shield or a Divine item. Edit: Some more examples: Mage: The robe slot could be filled with either robes or boots. I can imagine a Mage with mismatch boots, but walking around in his underwear. That image seems to fit in the card hunter universe. Or, an arcane slot could be filled with either robes or items, in case you want to give your mage extra protection. Warrior: The heavy armor slot could be filled with either heavy armor or another martial skill. Or the shield slot could be a shield or a martial skill. I imagine this would make him more rogue like. How does that sound?

I'm against it, and I even started a thread suggesting having no duplicate equipment slots to cut back on the use of duplicate items.
I see. Well we are definitely on the opposite sides of the coin. I don't mind players getting an advantage for spending money. I would mind if it was large amount of money. My limit is somewhere around 50 to 100 dollars per year. After which it feels like I am being ripped off.
Actually, this doesn't necessarily conflict with your idea. If your idea was implemented, then it would be like this: The Warrior's flex slot can be filled with either an offhand weapon or a shield, The Wizard's flex slot can be filled with either a wand or a weapon(same weapons that warriors get, a la Swordmage), The Priest's flex slot then could be filled with Holy Symbol or an offhand weapon.
