I have been playing the game for a couple of days now. I really enjoy the game play so far and don't really have any gripes about that. But the story seems kind of bland. A lot of the time I just skip over what Gary says because its so cookie cutter and not original. I would suggest being able to do things that upset Gary the d.m. to the point he mite throw in a surprise or change the rules. For example he mite randomly throw in a monster or have a random terrain effect shuffle around the board. I think this would also add to the replay factor because you could play an older campaign and have something new happen.

Well, it's a story about a bunch of people sitting around a table and playing an RPG. We'd been wondering for a long time just what sort of "plot" Blue Manchu could really give us. Personally, yes, I was wondering if we could tick Gary off: that might be cool.

But calling the current story "unoriginal"? I don't think that's the right term. I mean, are there any other games that put us in such a scenario?

As is, I greatly enjoy the "Melvelous" material and the interplay between Gary and his brother. Some of that stuff makes me laugh. Likewise with the in-jokes for old-school gamers. Though some still seems like filler, I'd say they're doing a pretty good job for the unique constraints they gave themselves.

I'm sorry if I didn't clarify what I said. I meant the things Gary says aren't very original. Card hunter itself is very original in itself. I was just saying that what Gary says could be more engaging. But like you said sometimes its kind of amusing but still falls short in my opinion.
