Card(s) with poor theme

As I've been playing through this pretty impressive game. I've come to a point where I"m starting to notice that some cards don't work for me, thematically.

My number 1 dislike in the game (currently) is Duck:

Duck doesn't make complete sense from a combat stand point, because there's no reason that you should be receiving the card you just blocked. As far as defensive maneuvers in actual combat this would be better as a "Riposte" action.

Every time this reaction occurs, I actually FEEL bad. Somehow he ducked? and he gets to mimic my attack? I don't get it.

second is Pickpocket / Steal line of cards:
    [IMG][IMG]

I think the pictures are fine, and they give a good idea of why the ability is doing what it's doing. But 5 damage? Pickpocketing and Stealing aren't exactly verbs that remind me of the same level of brutality as
    [IMG] or [IMG]

Couldn't the picture be using claws to rip the pocket or something? I'm just looking for a little visual justification that he just did 5 damage to my character through this attack.

I understand there are going to be balance issues involved with these decisions, however theme is important in a fantasy setting!

I think I agree with you for Duck - I really like the card mechanically, but you're right in that its theme doesn't really fit its mechanics.

I think the reason why it's called that though is because it's mostly from dwarf skills.

Yeah, I imagine they were thinking "we need a card that does THIS" and struggled to choose a name. The card makes more sense now that they've added the little flavor text ("I believe this is what you were attempting"). But to improve it, what exactly would be a better name? They have the word "riposte" in the flavor text on Parrying Strike, and I can understand it there: "riposte" sure sounds like it would be a specific type of strike (here, 8 Piercing damage), and it doesn't automatically imply "I'm gonna mimic your card," either. I think they're kinda stuck for options.

As to "steal maneuvers that also do damage," I'm taken back to Final Fantasy (e.g., Locke in FF VI). I imagine there will be far more variety in "stealing" cards when they release the Rogue class. For now, well, I guess they put in the 5 damage because they wanted to make the cards "more worthwhile": if you have this Attack card in hand, you have multiple options for how to play it.

Pickpocket and Steal should maybe have names implying a bit more violence. Like Mug or Rob or something like that.

That certainly makes more sense than damaging someone by picking their pocket.
