I would very much like to know the rules and numerical chances of the loot drops. I don't know if this has been covered before, in which case I beg for a link and a FAQ sticky, but if it hasn't been revealed, I would like to see them numbers. Stuff like which levels can drop in which dungeons, which chests can drop which type of loot. Can "normal" brown chests drop all types of treasure? Are Gold chests the only ones worth something? Is there a difference between campaign chests and MP chests? What are the chances for the various loot levels? For instance, what is the chance for a Legendary item drop? And Epic? What are the chances for particular pieces of loot? Are all the loots of the same level and tier equally likely? Is there a different chance to find a pair of boots or a divine armor? Is it just based on the number of loot pieces of each type in a certain tier? I would love to see these numbers and properly understand how the system works.
I would like to have the mystery intact personally that said i can help you with one question. which levels can drop in which dungeons. Items 2 levels under and two levels over and everything between can drop from each adventure.
Well that's fine by me, but I'd like a wiki article explaining it or something. The way I see it, this is not a "mystery" in that you can't really discover it - aside from massive data gathering, which is unlikely. It's a rule of the game that is hidden in the code. It's not something you can affect either, which means it's not important to keep it hidden to avoid exploits. The reason I would like to know it is because I want to know which adventures to farm to get specific legendaries, and for how long I need to farm them to have a decent chance. With some math, I can get an estimate of how much time a pizza slice is worth. Couple that with a complete list of item drops and I can estimate how much time and/or money competitive multiplayer would require. Having the "mystery" preserved (likely) has the added benefit reducing the number of people whining against the unfairness of Gaussians distributions, but that's going to happen anyway.
There is no best adventure to farm. I believe when you do a module for the first time you get the gold chest at the end, and after that you get the regular ones. All regular chests have same chance of drops(mp/sp), and the Blue Manchu have said there's a possibility of getting 5 legendary items in 1 chest(be it gold or not). And the best way of being competitive in MP is to do the 20 daily wins(apart from mass buying chests of course). That's where the majority of your goodies will come from, especially once you're done with the campaign; unless the quests give you some crazy good rewards(I haven't reached that far).
As an aside, I have a bit of trouble with the 20 daily wins to be honest. I think it's a bit much. I explained the reasoning in another thread and won't repeat myself, and I do understand there's plenty people who will get that chest every day. However, it's a bit too much for me.
I can give you one better....you can find the straight answer from the dev himself: http://www.cardhunter.com/forum/threads/loot-drop-post-reset-build-2-x.1550/#post-18699
That's something I was expecting due to the highly regular number of items per category (the only exception seems to be armor, which to be fair is somewhat more present than the rest of single/slot things). However it will probably backfire with expansions... I think they'll have to rethink it somewhat. But that's a minor problem, and not something we should worry about for now.
