I'm playing Edge of the wood and cast Frost Jolt on one of the trees. Then they Walk, Slowed trigger, they succeed their roll, and then they all move 2 squares, even the one affected by Frost Jolt. The encumbrance effect never triggered for it. So... after a little time to think about it, I'm not sure its Slowed who prevented the Encumbrance trigger. Maybe its the fact that its another tree than the affected one that played the Walk. Edit: And.... I just got confirmation, the encumbrance don't trigger if its not the affected ennemy who play the card. So, in a group of 4 monsters, if 3 have an encumbrance effect, but its the fourth one who play the card, the 4 will be able to move ignoring the encumbrance.
Correct ! Don't forget that greyed out units can't act anymore. You'll want to target units that haven't used up their actions for best effects.
Well technicaly it works as intended, however it's really illogical and, in my opinion, should be changed so the encumbrance affect each monster individually. The fact is the problem occur in reverse and is even more illogical: debuffing one single monster with encumbrance, and then this monster try multiple times to move, preventing the other 3 monsters to move, even if they're not encumbred.
We know. Encumber (and related things like Halt) are currently somewhat unintuitive, and I casually counted six main threads where we've discussed this the last time someone posted anew. Moreso, it's not just the enemies who are affected: http://www.cardhunter.com/forum/threads/should-halt-effects-prevent-shift-team.732/ http://www.cardhunter.com/forum/threads/team-run-cone-of-cold.786/ So . . . yeah. Here's hoping they figure out some logical way to resolve it.
Oh, this is really good to know. It makes it pretty tough to count on encumbrance against mobs, but at least now I can exploit it in multiplayer. It's quite illogical though and I believe it should be changed.
