Thanks Card Hunter team. I am forum member for 2 years. Even applied for a job on the application. First in line for closed beta. But my loyalty was well rewarded with silence. Thanks, i lost every hope or honestly interest. Are you even planning to do open beta? And will it be in 2014 ?
Well, the team are clearly hard at work as evidenced by Rudolpho's twitter feed (although I think they may currently be taking a well earned break over Easter). There is also a lot of great information provided by the community: beta diaries, a very nice looking Wiki, etc. These have certainly kept my interest in the project. However, I agree that some word directly from the Devs about how the game is progressing would be welcome. The last blog entry that wasn't a beta key contest was almost three months ago. It may be that they are happy with the level of information which is being made available thanks to the sterling efforts of some of the members of this forum, but it would still be nice to have an inside point of view (how the beta is going, what the next steps are, estimates of how far away the game is from any big milestones the team have in mind, etc).
I'm happy for them to work, not spend their time doing dev diaries. We're getting really close, and patience is a virtue. I am very anxious for a key though!
Honestly I almost forgot about the game. My excitement went from 100% checking every week for 2 years - to "I accidentally remembered there is such game in plan". Hope everything is on the track really. But in my experience: strangely long development time is not good sign...
It really hasn't been that long. Considering the amount of effort that goes into a game from concept to launch I'd say they are pretty well on track, especially for an indie developer. Stay patient, read the wiki and the blogs, YouTube some of the videos and the game will be here soon....
In my experience 2 years is not strangely long for a small team and i would say its great that they are taking their time. The whole time i have been in beta the game has gotten better with basically every patch and while i wouldn't cry if the released it now, they should take the time until they feel its done and that will show in the end results.
Lol ah Wozarg stop teasing about the beta! You know the rest of us want in badly! But yes I am sure it's progressing nicely, very much so looking forward to it!
I have never and will never tease someone about the beta all i was doing was pointing out he value of the time spent.
So let me get this straight. You register for beta and a forum account. Made a few post here and there, and claim THAT is loyalty? Did you not check about the contests for the keys? Where people actually put in effort to earn those keys, instead of just waiting there like baby bird in a nest for mommy to feed them? We have contents for the first 18 levels, and STILL getting some overhaul now and then (mostly for the better) While there's a chance BMS will take the DotA2/some other game routes where they open the cash option but still consider the game in beta, I doubt that'll happen until they're happy with the item curve/difficulty curve.
Don't worry Wozarg, that was why I prefaced with "lol" I was needling you a little. I know you aren't teasing. Point is, waiting for the devs to get the game done right is good. I think a 2 year time frame is not out of the ordinary.
Hey, making games is hard. Sorry you are sad that things aren't moving as quickly as you'd like. We would definitely rather have thousands of happy fans over frustrated ones and, so, the team is cranking away as quickly as possible. We hand out beta keys regularly and hold contests fairly regularly as well so don't lose heart! The keys will come out as the team can handle the players, not before.
