Dear Card Hunter players, 10 years ago, Blue Manchu embarked on the Card Hunter journey - a quest to make a multiplayer and singleplayer RPG/CCG hybrid playable online in a browser. If you’d told us the game would ship in 2013 and still be around in 2020, we would have been surprised (and delighted!). Truth be told though, we’ve been distracted for the last few years, focusing on Void Bastards and other new projects. As a (very) small team, we haven’t really had the time to give Card Hunter the love that it needs as well as develop our next ideas. Over the years, we’ve had many expressions of interest in the game from other companies interested in getting involved. But none of them, to date, convinced us to let go of our game that we’ve put so much time and love into. That changed recently when we were contacted by The Knights of Unity. What made their pitch work for us was their enthusiasm for the game and their passion for developing it beyond its current form. So, we’re handing off Card Hunter to The Knights of Unity, effectively immediately. Our confident belief is that they have the time, energy and passion to maintain, grow and improve the game in ways that we haven’t. For you, the players, we believe that this will only make Card Hunter a better game. We’ll still be hanging around and helping where we can, but Card Hunter’s future will now be driven by TKoU, not Blue Manchu. The details of what TKoU plans are up to them to reveal to you and I’m sure they’ll do so in good time. We’ve had a glimpse of these plans though and I think you’ll find them pretty exciting! It’s time for Blue Manchu to part ways with Gary, Karen, Melvin and you, the Card Hunter players. Thank you for 7 years of wonderful play. It’s been a privilege to develop and play this game with you and we can’t wait to see what comes next! May all your rolls be natural 20s. The Card Hunter Team
Pumped for the next stage of Card Hunter It's been awesome and it seems like it's just going t0 keep on going!
Dear Card Hunter Players! The Knights of Unity have arrived! We are the people who will be responsible for the further development of your (as well as our) favorite game: Card Hunter! Who are we? The Knights are passionate about board, card and RPG games. We play together, but more importantly, we also create new games together. If you know Scythe: Digital Edition, you may already know us a little. If not, there are other projects that we have worked on which you can be familiar with, namely: Disco Elysium & Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. We are also pretty good Unity engine specialists. Knights’ long term strategy is to develop our own titles for core players (currently we are working on 2 new projects). Our gaming adventure started 5 years ago. At present, we have 100 talented Ladies and Sirs on board, over 90 projects completed and one big “castle” in Poland, as our office. Why are we taking over the responsibility to further maintain and develop Card Hunter? The reason is simple: we really like this game and we believe that it still has great potential. There are many Knights among us who play Card Hunter and they enjoy it a lot! We will continue the development of this amazing game and strive to make it even more fun for other players. Card Hunter is a type of game that definitely fits perfectly into the scope of titles that we want to work on. It has so much in common with what we like that it was obvious for us that we needed to dive deeper into it. We are passionate about Card Hunter. Right now, we don’t want to reveal anything specific about the game’s future, but be sure to stay around! We are aiming to bring new life into the game and some of our plans are going to be revealed as soon as in Q1 2021. At this very moment, we are heavily engaged in the transfer process of Card Hunter and are analyzing every technical aspect of the game. With that being said, from this day forward, we are officially taking over the support of the game, so please, do not hesitate to contact us if you encounter any problems! The email address is still the same: support@cardhunter.com - Sir Civil is always willing to help! You can also find him on the forums or in the game (usually he is busy fighting kobolds ). Feel free to discuss this in this thread! We will try to answer every single question!
Yay! Exciting news. Good luck to all involved and thanks Jon and the rest of the BM crew for the ride!
Amazing, really. we all thought the end of flash player would kill this game. And yet we are going to have more of it ? You've made my day.
Any news is good news and I was 100% certain that CH was dead in the water. It will be interesting to see what you can do with the corpse but engaging with social media is a great start, I think I've been on the forums only a couple of times in the past couple of years and never would have seen this announcement otherwise. I'm sure many long-term players would be happy to give you ideas and feedback about what attracted us to the game and what kept us here, as well as ideas to grow the playerbase so that new players aren't mugged sideways by old hands ... at least, not for a little while after they start. So I guess this means I have to start hoarding chests again for potential new card releases?
This is the last thing I expected, neat! Hope the transfer process goes well and can't wait to see new content drop!
i don't mind if the CH2 requires a reset of our assets making us all start from fresh... but i hope there is more F2p content (with microtransactions who can afford the vanity stuff) this model .... :{ ty and plz... no flash... that tech is dead and done with X_X:
I've never thought I'd get a Christmas present this year. Now I have one. A great news. I'm afraid though, my expectation for Card Hunter developers is set particularly high. Diverse metagame and strategically deep gameplay is hard to maintain. But I also think it's a challenge that has to be taken. The game clearly has much more potential than it shows now. Thanks Blue Manchu for your work. I wish the best for the game's future. In Card Hunter terms, go All Out developing the game. From the back, of course.
Yeah, interesting stuff. Just saw the announcement on Facebook. Looking forward to seeing what you do. Just hope you keep what made Card Hunter great and don't fall into some "pay 2 win" model...
This is great news! Huge thank you to Jon and Farbs and Flax for all your work, and a warm welcome to our new Knightly protectors!
What? Cool. Thanks. *speechless* ... this is a great christmas present indeed. Thanks again Blue Manchu and welcome dear Knights of Unity!
This seems like good news, yes. Question (1): will there be a web version to play in the new year or is this still going over to Steam only? Question (2): if it still going to Steam only, when is the web version gone for good?
The Gwent mobile port is really well done (as an aside, if you are not playing Gwent....why are you not playing Gwent?), so I assume the same will happen here with Card Hunter. While I don't really every play Card Hunter anymore, it's nice to see it lives on! Maybe it's time to get the three human wizards out of storage
