Loot Fairy Tracker

2 feature ideas I'd love to see that I doubt I'm the first to think of:

1. Easier feature: a countdown clock showing how much time is left in the day before the reset at 00:00 GMT (or whenever the reset is). This would be useful for folks in other timezones & to plan hitting the Fairy twice.
2. Harder feature: some sort of email alert or push notification when an new fairy is located. This is tricky because people have to sign up etc, but perhaps it could just be run though something like push notifications via Prowl iOS & NotifiyMyAndroid (which share the same basic API). Alternatively a Discord or Slack group might work too and you could push notifications out via their apps (using a bot perhaps).

Anyway, I'd be happy to discuss ideas (I've got a dev background) and help out if anyone wants to collaborate; just DM me.

 

@nickv2002: Just on the easier feature, note that you can type /who in CH's chat tabs to see who all's there -- and you can do the same with /when and um some other questions you might ask. $;^ J True, undocumented, but already a feature nonetheless.

 

Handy but I still think a small 00:00 GMT countdown timer on the Loot Fairy Page would be useful. Like when you check that page with a mobile device etc. Thanks!

The previous Discord community building wasn't successful, but if there would be handy bots, it might work.

@Pawndawan Thanks for your thoughts. I usually have the UTC conversion memorized but get confused with the daylight saving change. Also I'm not new around here, just haven't posted in a while.

@Flaxative any thoughts on supporting these features? I could build the notification functionality myself, but wanted to check with you first as it would be a whole lot easier if your tools could push updates or at least offer a very basic JSON API to poll for status (instead of scraping the HTML).

@Flaxative: When you have time to revisit LF tracker, you might want to tweak the colours of Patrol / Reset buttons. I accidentally reset the tracker tonight, so having different colors on the buttons would help a bit.
