I'd also think the wording should be that the opponent gains an extra victory point, in case it's on monsters with a point value of something other than 2.

No... just no... I'd say 1 attack, 1 range, no step. At the start of each round return this to your hand and it gains +1 attack.
Maybe an easier way to do something similar: Bud Strike Melee Crushing Range 1 Damage 2 At the beginning of the turn destroy this card and create a Short Plant Strike card and put it in your hand. Short Plant Strike Melee Crushing Range 1 Damage 6 At the beginning of the turn destroy this card and create a Long Plant Strike card and put it in your hand. Long Plant Strike Melee Crushing Range 1 Damage 10 At the beginning of the turn destroy this card and create a Spiked Plant Strike card and put it in your hand. Spiked Plant Strike Melee Piercing Range 1 Damage 14 Only Bud Strike would be availavble on items.
