Thank you for the advice. I can see my shield is not what I want anymore - since I put some melee attacks on the cleric. Question is - I have two options that I see to replace it: Wooden Shield (Surging block, Block, Block) Black Cat Buckler (3x Parry) I could replace the Puce Diadem with Vira's Chain (Teleport Self, Short P. Ray, Stone Spikes) - I think that is an upgrade. As for Bluestone Pendant - I have Hurricane Stone, Magma Scepter, and Scepter of Antipathy (Forgetfulness, Illusion Wall, Force Blast) - I think that last one is useful. I do dislike the Hot Crystal - that one has to go, can replace that with the Armorbane Pendant you mentioned. Thanks for the advice!
Anika Level 4 Human Priest So, rather than going item-by-item like I do with the two wizards below, I'm gonna ask you general questions instead? What is this priest supposed to do? Are they a tank? A healer? A buffer? A card draw engine? A purger? A vamp? Do you want them to toe-to-toe with melee characters, or do they want to hide back with your wizards? What job do you expect them to preform on the battlefield? I felt a decided lack of clarity when I looked at your choices for your priest, and you'll probably want to go back and ask yourself if all of those cards are supporting the kind of priest you want to build. That said, sometimes we don't have those cards, and have to adapt to what we do have. If I was building it, I'd probably look for big damage attacks with some decent healing peppered in. You could also go for Radiation - with as much control as your wizards have, you could try and compound that with negative traits - but that can be a very risky play. Some items to look at for inspiration: Draining Console (vamp/heal), Tome Of The Martyr (card draw), St. Olf's Fiery Pike (buffing), Healing Hand Mace (damage/healing), St. Betham's Charm (healing/buffing), Shielding Charm (Nimbus with a bit of Vamp), Shuddering Relic (buff/vamp/cycle tokenless), Spellstripper Relic (best purge in the game), Vampire Blade (vamp, tokenless, great for deck-thinning), Ageis Of The Defender (card draw/defense), Parrying Buckler (tanking), Glowing Hide Armor (vamp, tokenless) and Martyr's Shifting Plate (tanking/card draw) Aidan Level 18 Human Wizard Dual Optimum D-10 Solid enough. There are Legendaries that are probably upgrades, (like Deadly, Deadly Staff or Blue Destruction), but this is a fine start. Dual Optimum D-10 If you end up looking to replace these (which you probably wont), remember that you're either going to want really high average attack numbers, or the ability to hit multiple targets at once. Its much easier to find the latter as a wizard than the former. Hot Crystal > Armorbane Pendant, Booming Ring, Blasting Amulet, Sensate's Ring... there are a lot of better options, I think? Blasting Rod > Blasting Amulet Puce Diadem > Reflexive Teleport has always felt kinda meh to me. Runestone is the go-to card-card-trait blue token item, and there a bunch of interesting utility items out there too. If you're looking for armor removal (which you probably want a little of, with all those low-damage slides and Path Of Knives), Akon's Amulet and Destructive Wand are good places to look. Bluestone Pendant > Runestone. Squeamish is less bad than it looks, especially because a good number of your high-damage attacks increase their damage after playing them, or, like the in the case of Deadly Spark, don't target. Cotton Wizard's Robes Workable. Shielding Warp Boots Solid. Untrained Flexibility Interesting. Could be better choices, but it's a neat option, and I like it. Novice Teleportation > Electroporter Novice Throm Level 7 Dwarf Wizard Searing Pain M62 Laser Rifle Kinda meh as staves go. Got any bigger damage staves? AoE staves like Whorl can also be powerful, and save you a yellow for a blue token. Multi-deployer Personal preference is for Defensive Forcegun, but your mileage may vary. Amulet Of Blades I personally like Booming Ring better, just cause you save the token. Fiery Shard Alright. Fiery Shard Also Alright. Cloak Of Instinct I feel like you have better options, but I'm not sure what they are. You could always use some armor removal or Arcane Aura, maybe a la Cotten Wizard Robe again? But you need to fit some armor removal somewhere in the mix. Shielding Warp Boots Still Solid. Novice Ferocity Meh. Assuming you took it because its tokenless. Watch out for Apprentice Ferocity or Raging Battler as you get a bigger collection going. Apprentice Rifthopping > Electroporter Novice
@Dad and Sons - The most questionable items on your priest at the moment are the Deflecting Buckler and the Unholy Nimbus. Melancthon covered the Deflecting Buckler (and for how to replace it, I'd probably go with the Black Cat Buckler that you have). I don't like the Unholy Nimbus because your party has two wizards which don't benefit as much from the buff as a warrior or priest would. The Glowing Hide Armor that Inkfingers suggested is an easy upgrade (tokenless and common). That said, the rest of your items are also subject to change depending on the role you want your priest to have. Some common and uncommon items to look out for are: Tome of the Martyr (Inkfingers also mentioned this) Amulet of Inspiration (more card draw) Silver Healing Ring (solid healing. that said, you probably don't want to equip more than 1, as healing isn't terribly impressive usually) Demon Charm of the 7th Circle (buff your wizards and give them cards!) Scar of the Hero (more card draw, and the Avenging Touch is interesting) Novice Piety / Untrained Piety (good tokenless alternatives to Trained Cleansing. Altruism becomes better with more Holy cards, so if you're equipping multiple Tome of the Martyr / Amulet of Inspiration, you'll want to consider these) Lifesuck Spear (if you want your priest to get in the way, the Enervating Touches help it survive + you can do a surprising amount of damage, which make it easy for your wizards to finish up) On to your wizards! Bluestone Pendant -> Vira's Chain is indeed an upgrade. Good call. I'm not a huge fan of the Scepter of Antipathy - Illusion Wall is pretty weak because it only lasts one round. Forgetfulness' strength varies greatly. Force Blast is fine though. Fiery Shard is fine! Another good call there. Other common and uncommon items to watch for: Robes of Lightness (2 traits at tokenless is amazing! if you want to use a token, Portal Frock is an alternative) Explorer's Force Suit (costs a yellow token, but has control, self-protection, and a trait!) Electroporter Novice (Inkfingers mentioned this too. 85+% of wizards will default to this, as it gives 3 useful traits and is tokenless (btw, traits are good because they make your deck more consistent)) Runestone, Sensate's Ring - these two are pretty similar, and are both very good. Mostly irrelevant trait + powerful control card. Runestone costs a token, but gives you Wall of Fire, which is a good source of damage for wizards. Squeamish might be awkward since you're using your wizards for damage though, so maybe only equip one on each wizard. Burning Bangle - tokenless, comes with two Hot Spots. yay damage. Cinnabar Ring, Akon's Amulet, Armorbane Pendant - probably your best armor-removal option at each token cost Dwarf - Beginner Toughness (has a Parry at tokenless) Of course, everything will depend on the build and what not, but I think these are some pretty general, useful items.
I'm (finally) back to play a bit of CH, at least for the Thanksgiving break. (Back to college by Monday!) @CT5 I'm finally using that 2 warrior 1 wizard team you suggested forever ago, and it seems to be working out well in the current Central Processing league. Got to be a bit dicey in a couple matches, but I got out with a 4-0 standing. Not bad for only play singleplayer in my spare time. Now, onto the cursed caverns... I can almost taste finishing that module. Got to the 8th part and got shut down by poison damage. =( Also, welcome to all the new Sorcererers since the last time I posted!
Thanks to everyone for your comments about my builds. I switched things up and prompted lost 4 times (getting blitzed each time) in my next 7 games! Lol...still a lot to learn Have to find the right balance. Mostly doing leagues and quests on the campaign to try to pick up some more items to fill in some spots. Did get a Vampire Sword to make my priest more of a vampire - since really, who does not think vampires are cool! So far not played against anyone from another guild...I am guessing most of the guild members are higher ranking? What rankings see the most inter-guild battles?
I've seen very few when I was in the 1100s; I'm pretty sure they were all 1200s and 1300s at least. Funnily enough, I got pitted against @3beaner and @CT5, quite a bit higher than myself, but that's intraguild -- not interguild. $:^ P I've been told guild members get more prevalent as you go up the ladder, and when checking others' histories (in SRC or otherwise), this pans out. Btw, it's possible your sudden losses came because the maps totally changed, too, but I'm sure the more experienced comrades would have more (a.k.a. better) to say about this.
ParodyKnaveBob brings up something I had not realized (being a mite slow) - the maps changes...every month? Do people craft new decks/parties at the beginning of each month to fit the maps - or do you use your same builds? The new maps (I have only seen 2 of them) seem to have the VPs all in the same location rather than spread out like last month's maps. So what is the best approach to this? With my limited experience I was thinking this map lends itself more to fighters. Would a 2 fighter/1 support party work? The fighters go with speed + endurance (so focus on armor/extra move cards). The support either be a smoke bomb mage or a nimbus cleric. My 2 mage/1 cleric party does not seem very well suited to these maps (although if there are 4 possible maps, I have only seen 2 of them). So what is everyone else's approach to this month's MP maps? As a side-note, the leagues did not change...so they are on a different rotation than the maps for MP...when do they switch up?
Side note... Fake answer: Leagues change whenever Jon feels like it. $E^ D Real answer: Often (always?) a different schedule. I don't know much more; I've been playing only since May-ish, and I hiatus'd for a month or so, too. Leagues and ranked maps tend to change when a special event occurs, though, like holiday, new expansion, etc. Main train... I've seen some people stick to some variant on the same party no matter what. Here's looking at you, @gulo gulo. $}^ J But then whatever, he's in some other, less-important guild. They like, compete and stuff, for pizza or whatever. Then you have ridiculous people who throw weird stuff into Ranked Matches, apparently just to see what happens for the fun of it; some idiot launched Infected zombies into the mix this past Halloween (you can read about my this random stranger's exploits on an earlier page in this thread), and Principle @CT5 has been posting videos of Peasant Wizards (only Common and Uncommon items, some Rare exceptions that only have Com/Uncom cards). I hear people talking in World about how wizard-unfriendly this rotation is, but it seems I keep seeing at least one wizard in nearly every match. As for me, I'm once again trying a new party I've never attempted before -- this time, an Elf Warrior, a Dwarf Warrior, and a Human Priest; they're winning more than losing so hey, there's that. Amateur Tip (don't expect Pro Tips from me!): Spectate games. $:^ ] Besides the fact that you can generally learn stuff, and it's just fun to watch, you can also at the beginning of each month get a decent idea of what's going on if you watch a few games before getting your own feet wet.
479 including devs, admin etc if you define still playing as having logged in some time in the past 14 days.
I've missed your voice CT5 Edited: btw I'm watching your first peasant match, and I have to say if I were your opponent I'd be ****ing pissed because you took so freaking long time haha.
