Simple solution to 1hp Black Plume Quest with easily obtained gear. Being ill-equipped to do the other posted solution, I had to do some thinking for this quest. To save anyone else the horror of thinking for themselves, I post my solution here. The solution revolves around having an pretty elven maiden to distract Bliz. Dragons cannot resist elf girls, they are delicious. Step1: Elf maiden sprints as fast as possible to take cover behind pillar at the bottom of map. Other two party members flatten themselves against the wall, they only just have space to avoid the dragons breath. My Board round 1. Elf in position. Human mage about to step forward and start chilling the Hammer. Step2: Dragon is mesmerized by elf maiden and chases her around pillar. Elf maiden teases dragon by dancing around pole, so close but constantly out of reach. Other two kill Black hammer dead, taking care to never step off the row of tiles furthest from the dragon. My Board just after Black Hammer kill. Step3: Continue to flirt with dragon around pole. When you play your elf girls cards, try and do it sensuously, least the dragon loose interest and go and gank your team. Other two team mates can pelt the dragon with whatever comes to hand, he even turns his back regularly so his blocks don't activate. My Board, round 49... Elven maneuvers has just revealed he will burn to death at end of round, gg Blitz. Party used: Elf Mage: loaded with as much move as possible. Human Mage: cold spells to slow down and kill Black Hammer and Dissolve Armor for dragon. Human Priest: nimbus specialist to deal with Black Hammer and to protect Human mage if risk of reflecting block from dragon. All equipment has options that are rare or lower quality, except Nimbus blade which all should have. HealGirl Level 22 Human Priest Nimbus Blade comes with free Citadel party. A: Yes... sometimes. I completed twice with this technique, one other time he broke off and ate the humans. Two out of three ain't bad. Q: Is your presented team a carefully sculptured optimal group? A: No. Packing some damage buffs on the priest would be my first change if doing it again.
A great, fun and extremely innovative solution, PurpleRed! Thanks for sharing it! Welcome to the forums!
Awesomeness! Just further proof that there are always more solutions/viable builds in this game that people haven't thought of yet.
I keep on thinking about getting the AotA content when I see success stories like this...but then spotted round 49 mentioned further down the post! I know that some won't share my view, but if the level 18 adventures were made more fun to play then I'd probably buy them. As it is, they seem to be a lot of hard work even with a well-constructed deck so would probably only play them for the Loot Fairy. With EttSc, I think the lesson seems to have been learned and the devs made a great decision to create new content that's fun to play again and again - these adventures are beatable with a range of characters and builds. Perhaps AotA could be revisited...although don't let it slow down any new stuff!
"As it is, they seem to be a lot of hard work even with a well-constructed deck" Yeah that's the point of them. It took my many tries to complete, I've not thought of trying to Quest them, urggh the horror. But they were suppossed to be the ultimate challenge adventures and they sure are I think they are fine as they are. These plenty of levels to play for fun. I'm sure poeple will be finding more interesting solutions to the Quests with the new Citadel cards.
Thanks for the feedback. Sorry for lowering the bar Neoncat, but after playing around with a number of over-thought iffy solutions, this one was just so simple and reliable. I could not resist bragging. @wavy, different people play for different reasons, the 1hp quests are for people who enjoy suffering. Casuals should still find the AotA adventures reasonably accessible.
Wow, that's awesome. Didn't think it would be possible with the balance changes a while ago. Glad to see it is! (Also the flavor text is hilarious)
