I've played this game for about a month, and it is totally brilliant. I particularly love the tactical use that can be made of the game boards. However, I'm having a hard time enjoying the fact that diagonal squares count as 1 unit each for movement and attacks. It seems to ruin many tactics of hit range, chokepoints, and most terrain cards. Can anyone give me good reasons why the movement is this way? Does anyone share my complaint?
The alternative of diagonals counting as 'non-adjacent' would arguably be much less intuitive, since two characters on tiles diagonal from each other are physically very close to one another. And while it would make things like setting up choke-points easier, it would also prevent strategies like pinning enemies against walls (for better or worse). Personally though, I'm of the opinion that diceless Card Hunter on a hex-grid would be the greatest thing ever
