    Blooming Ground

The effect starts in the southwest corner of the board and goes up to the northeast corner, traveling a row at a time west to east and then proceeding up to the next row to do the same. For each square that has a terrain attachment, Blooming Ground checks each adjacent square and copies the terrain if that square is empty of both existing terrain and not blocked or impassable. Terrain attachments that create blocked or impassable terrain will not copy to square occupied by a character.

    Cooling Laser

This card's attack type is Laser, not Cold, therefore the card's boost function does not boost itself, nor will it boost other copies of Cooling Laser. Cooling Laser does of course gain a damage boost from the minor erratic damage roll.

    Cushioning Armor

Armor cards trigger and are applied from left to right in a character's hand. Therefore Cushioning Armor will only trigger if at the time of potential trigger the total damage with all modifiers applied, including armor in hand to its left that has already triggered, is greater than 5.

Consequently, armor cards in hand to the right of Cushioning Armor will further reduce damage after it has been reduced to 5 while armor cards to the left of Cushioning Armor, will be applied before the reduction to 5.

    Gene Therapy

The boost cards generated by Gene Therapy can create duplicates. If this is the case, the first boost will be attached and then the duplicate boost will replace it as is standard practice with duplicate attachments. This will result in the final number of boost cards attached to the target character being less than the original number of Handicap cards on that character.

    Genetic Engineering

The boost cards generated by Genetic Engineering can create duplicates. If this is the case, the first boost will be attached and then the duplicate boost will replace it as is standard practice with duplicate attachments. This will result in the final number of boost cards attached to the target character being less than three.

    Major/Minor Erratic Damage

When rolling a 2 or less, a laser malfunction card is drawn, but the original card is still completed as normal, including receiving a damage boost for the die roll.

    Laser Malfunction Cards

Most laser cards can malfunction when used, if they malfunction a laser malfunction card is drawn; however, the original card still has it's effect. When a laser malfunction card is drawn, it is selected at random from the laser malfunction card pool. It is not part of the character's deck and will be removed from play again upon being resolved.

    Laser Malfunction Card Pool
    Battery Explosion
    Drained Battery
    Laser Spray
    Meltdown

    Spreading Laser

This card only requires line of sight to the target character.

When this card affects multiple characters the order of effect is as follows:
    1. It will affect the target character first
    2. Next it will affect all allies adjacent to the target character.
    3. Last it will affect all enemy characters adjacent to the target character.

    Laser Cutdown

When this card is played such that it kills a character, it is not considered "in hand" until after the resolution of the attack and character death. Therefore, laser cutdown will not be discarded by Superstitious, Savage Curse, or other cards that trigger discard upon attack or character death, but will be returned to hand after these discard triggers have been resolved.

    Start of Round Effects

When a new round begins, certain "start of round effects" occur before any cards are played. They are resolved in the following order:
    1. In Hand: All cards in the hand that trigger at the start of a round (e.g. Arcane Feedback) resolve in order of newest to oldest. This occurs first for the player who started the previous round followed by all cards in hand of the opponent in the same way.
    2. Character Attachments: All cards attached to characters that trigger at the start of the round resolve starting with the characters of the player that started the previous round . These are checked from oldest to newest, followed by those attached to characters controlled by the opponent in the same way.
    3. All terrain attachments that trigger at the start of the round resolve.
After Start of Round Effects have finished resolving, all attachments have their duration reduced by one, and all players draw new cards.

    Cone Effects

Cone effects create an area of effect expanding outwards in a given direction. Unless specified, cone effects do not go through blocked terrain, but otherwise do not need line of sight to potential targets. Thus cone effects will hit through illusory or smoke terrain.

Cone effects will affect all characters within the area of effect starting with the row farthest from the caster progressing to the row nearest to the caster. Within each row, characters will be affected moving either south to north, or west to east, depending on the orientation of the row.

    Adaptable

Immunity attachments created by Adaptable have a duration of 2.

Penetrating attacks still trigger adaptable's card creation and do not bypass immunity attachments that apply to that attack's damage type.

While Adaptable is armor, it does not prevent damage and thus will never be removed by Sundering Strike though it can be removed by other cards that cause armor discard. The immunity cards created by Adaptable are not armor and will not be removed by cards that target armor.

    Targeting Types

Cards that affect characters can have different targeting types.
    • Single target cards: This is a card that targets and affects a single character, this is the most common type of card for attacks and assists (e.g. Bludgeon). These cards require selecting a single target*.
    • Multi-target cards: Some cards directly target characters, but allow targeting of more than one. These cards require selecting targets* (e.g. Gusts Of War).
      • Repeat targeting cards: Some cards allow a special type of multi-targeting which permits repeatedly targeting the same character with the same action. For how these types of cards interact with blocks, armor, etc., see Repeated Targeting.
    • Area of effect (AoE) cards: These cards do not directly target characters but instead target a board tile (e.g. linear attacks) or affect a target area in a given direction (e.g. cone attacks). These cards require selecting a target board tile or direction. This type of card will not trigger cards that trigger "when targeted" (e.g. Dodge).
    • Global effect cards: These cards affect all characters that satisfy defined constraints specified on the card (e.g. within 3 squares, all dwarves, all adjacent allies). These cards never require selecting targets. This type of card does not directly target characters and will not trigger cards that trigger "when targeted."
*If auto-target is activated in the menu, target selection will happen most of the time automatically, but still occurs.

    Destructive Purge

The handicap cards generated by Destructive Purge can create duplicates. If this is the case, the first handicap will be attached and then the duplicate handicap will replace it as is standard practice with duplicate attachments. This will result in the final number of handicap cards attached to the target character being less than the number of cards being replaced.
