I haven't played the new Deus Ex yet, but I have yet to see one person disappointed in it. It's like a blend of the original and Invisible War. Which wasn't a bad game at all, it just wasn't DE.
I will admit to being disappointed by the new Deus Ex, but please keep in mind that I think I'm slowly becoming a hard man for AAA games to please. I've clocked six hours playing it, and should really force myself to play a few more at some point here to see if my initial impressions were unfounded.
You should give it more time, if you havnt fought the first boss yet then it might be a good idea to try. After you beat him if you dont like it then i wouldnt force it as the rest of the game is in a sense "More of the Same" with its options of choices and varied gameplay that relies on your thinking skills to get past situations as well as Augs. But dont get me wrong, that "More of the Same" i use very loosely (near the end with "Zombie-like" people it kinda freaked me out and i played it differently)
I found the gameplay of the recent Deus Ex to be just fine. The story, however, seemed really bland. The original subtly weaved in a great many modern conspiracies (just as Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum did). Finding the "greys" in Deus Ex is one of my favorite moments in gaming (and I'm still not sure what they were). Human Revolution contains almost none of that. Instead of trying to convince you that it is part of our, real world (like Deus Ex did), Human Revolution spent most of it's time trying to convince me that it was in the same world as Deus Ex.
