This is one of the most frequently asked questions by new players. Currently, when you attempt to sell a usable item before you reach 7 renown, you're met with this dialogue: I propose changing this to something along the lines of: It looks like all that's needed to do this is edit the text on line 224 of data/gameplay/Prompts/Prompt.csv
There are plenty of options. The important part is that the dialogue provides a specific point when items can be sold and doesn't leave the player with more questions. For example, we don't want something like: Because this immediately leads to the question, "How do I get renown?" To compensate for the supposed chest needed after reaching 7 renown, he could say: And if you really want to cover all possibilities, you could use something a little more verbose: Although this might seem a bit odd, since Gary doesn't introduce multiplayer until 5 renown.
And this all assumes that the players are reading the Gary prompts. Because I know I've never seen a question asked that he answers.
That does apply to a lot of the FAQs, but at least in this particular case Gary is the one provoking the question.
It's not a supposed chest. That's how it works. I've seen many times players complaining in chat that they are now Renown 7 but still can't sell items. The solution is to open one more chest. It can even be a bought chest for all I know, it doesn't have to be a reward chest from a won battle. I know this doesn't change your point, but it's better that we're all working with accurate information when educating the community.
This would be an interesting thing to test. I know things get really weird if that first chest after renown 7 is from a level 1 adventure. (You get the tutorial prompts about the shops unlocking, but you can't sell anything because the shop panel isn't present in those adventures. You can't sell anything the next time you open a chest either, but the one after that works normally.)
i propose that items be unsellable until renown 20, to prevent newbs from selling items without realizing its a bad idea.
