Anti-troll suggestions:

• Block any chat messages unless 10 seconds have passed from their previous message (the forums do something like this). With the current lag, it takes me longer than that just to type and make sure the right bits are capitalized(1).
  
• Block any messages that are identical to the previous message.
• Block any message containing Unicode chars (or some subset). There are some chars where a single line of them makes the whole chat window unreadable.

(1) When there's lag, the letters you type are queued to be sent. But the shift key is checked when the letter is sent, not when typed. It took 3 days of randomly capitalized sentences to figure out what was going on. Same thing with ctrl-clicking to fully unequip a char: you need to keep ctrl held down the whole 30 seconds it takes to process all the clicks.

Somehow, I don't think that's all they're clueless about.

150+80.. crap. I'm 5 pizza short, because Kongregate gives 30 less pizza for $10 than the other sites do. Hopefully Jon'll get back to me [positively] on that, else I'll be emptying the Steam Wallet next.

That first one isn't feasible persay; That'd be such an annoying handicap to both my two-part joke routines and my longer advice comments, that I'd be far less inclined to do either, eventually pushing me away from chat on the whole.
I may be misjudging the effective duration of 10 seconds, though.
Still, ideally not needing to be implemented, especially with proper moderation.

Identical just makes sense; I suppose the one instance it doesn't is if I'm repeating FAQ links over two different chat check-ins, and even in that case, I can just add some text to the comment once the chat notifies me of my err.

Eh. I dunno about the unicode, we goof off a lot in chat, I don't NECESSARILY want to limit our ability to express our goofyness in chat [kinda feels like giving in to the trolls at that point, as well].
Maybe we can apply that 'minimum 5 renown' idea as part of the filter for that.



The game actually almost never lags at all for me, since the hardware upgrade.

It's only when a huge flood of spam in chat hits that I notice it.

Of course, that's in browser, steam still lags noticeably.

I've never seen that screen, but with all of the new players, trolls were inevitable. I'm getting tired of report+block being the only solution.
