I need help picking out what to buy. Here are some of the legendaries in my Randi's:

Brin's Spiked Rod (best tokenless Counterspell item)
Ewix's Evolving Ensemble (already have, but maybe for a Mimetic Crown build?)
    Hawlic's Surging Shield
Overheated Staff (cheaper alternative to White Flame, which I use)
Robes Of White Wylla (only item with 2 arcane shells, pretty great)
    Vibrant Pain (superb warrior weapon)
Wym's Fiery Bangle (already have one, but it's nice)
Yvette's Buckler (good minor token Defender's Block)
Zero G Combat Helm (perfect for a Mimetic Crown + Sprint, Team! build)

    and the notable epic

    St. Olf's Fiery Pike

This selection of Randi's is making me seriously think about playing a warrior.

Currently my eyes are on White Wylla. I might get VP, too, because it's the second time it has appeared in my Randi's. Overheated is also something I'm looking into.

    BlackVoidDeath Guild Leader

    I would buy ↓
I think its great, I got it in my RR too and bought it (now have 2)
I wouldnt buy it because I have 4 of it but if you have less than 3 then I suggest buying.
Very good minor token fire item.
Looks fun but is it worth a major token? (it almost is but I couldnt use it for some of my builds)

IMO, any class that can take damage. It's kind of hard to say which.
I'd buy the epic. If it turns out you're not impressed with Cushioning armor, you'll have saved 2k.
The tome is good if you want to mix Savage Curse and Mass Frenzy (which can work pretty well for wiz or war/wiz support).
I have both Focused Crushing and Advanced Crushing, and usually prefer Advanced due to the token cost. YMMV

If you want to make a glass cannon, use Cotton Wizard's Robes instead. (easy to find, basicly free, and requires only minor token)

This is an amazing divine weapon and everyone should have at least two of these.

  5. Melancthon

    Melancthon Ogre

I have enough for two legendaries, and Randi is showing me:

    Phantom Pain
    The Strongarm
    Zoltan's Laser Scourge

I own two Strongarm, so I'll probably pass. As one of the few people who actually think The Lunginator really IS one of the best weapons in the game, I'll probably be picking up the Scourge. So I guess the question is, should I go broke getting my first phantom pain? If it helps, I do own one Illusion

  6. Stage

    Stage Orc Soldier

This week Randi let me at a Sundersong, which I immediately bought and quite like. A few other borderline items though...

Atomic Drop Console has me sitting on the fence. Radiation Bomb seems generally pretty good but is obviously unreliable; sometimes it'll do almost nothing, and I'm fairly loathe to blow a gold token on an item with a card as weak as Mind Worm.

Prillith's Robes Of Pain seems better than the Robes Of Avak Seth I already have, I guess, but when would I really use it?

A second Skull Of Savage Iljin is not something I would sneeze at... would I be crazy to let this slip by me?

@Mr. Magnifico: I agree with Sir Veza, 500 gold is quite reasonable to test out the new armor card. Out of those two legendaries, Bleneth's Frenzy Tome wins hands down. I wouldn't bother with the Focused Crushing.

@Deepweed: I don't have any opinion about the Mimetic Crown items. Other than that I'd buy up to two Vibrant Pains and two St. Olf's Fiery Pikes. Only get Hawlic's Surging Shield if you really need and plan to use it (for dwarf vampires maybe?) and Overheated Staff if you constantly wish that you'd have one minor token more for arcane items / something else. I wouldn't even think about spending gold on the rest of those items.

@Melancthon: Phantom Pain is the only minor token arcane item with two Illusory Barriers. Might be handy for some 1 HP quests and MP builds. If you don't run usually 3 warriors in MP or farm low level SP adventures with multiple warriors, you probably don't need that third Strongarm.

As discussed above, Zoltan's Laser Scourge might be the best Laser Whip weapon there is, so if you want to build around it, you probably should pick it up.

@Stage: Atomic Drop Console has the best Radiation Bomb / token cost (2 bombs / 1 major token), so stock it up, if you want to play with that dirty bomb. I wouldn't buy Prillith's Robes Of Pain, can't think of any build that would want it, unless you really want to maxise the amount of Path Of Knives. Arcane Shell is generally underwhelming, so I would steer away any robes containing it.

Second Skull Of Savage Iljin is definitely good pick, best item out of those four in my opinion.

For those who are as annoyed as me for people posting links that don't work, here's a working link for Zoltan's Laser Scourge. (I'm looking at you Melancthon and Pandawan)

Phantom Pain is one of those irreplaceable items for wizards. There's no substitute for Phantom Pain with the same token cost. Illusory Barrier is one of those top tier wizard cards, and it is extremely potent against other wizards (though you do need to know how to place it properly to prevent overwriting).

Do I recommend it for you? Maybe not. Phantom Pain belongs in triple wizard builds, and functions somewhat okay with 2 wizards or a single dedicated control wizard. Unless you play any of these or see yourself playing any of these in the foreseeable future, it might not be the best idea to go broke.

If you don't have two of them, grab it immediately and celebrate! I've bought even a third copy. It's that good.

As a person who actually pointed out that The Lunginator is one of the best weapons in the game, I strongly recommend you NOT to buy the Scourge :) It costs more than The Lunginator, it deals less damage, and its major cards are restrictive.

Phantom Pain is usually better than Illusion, since you rarely can devote a whole staff to place illusions, while you can spend one of arcane item slots for that. Plus, spending (minortoken) on having some illusions is much cheaper than spending(majortoken)(minortoken). So I recommend buying it. Actually, I have the Illusion and two Phantom Pains, and I found myself never using the staff, even though I've used both Pains sometimes.

You're blowing the gold token on 2 Radiation Bombs, Mindworm is just filler. Still, mindworm can be fun if an opponent with a great armor and Enchanted Harness wanders into range. Armor removal works better, but Mindworm requires them to choose.
It you run priest supported burst or farming wizards, a 3rd skull is probably a must buy.

edit: This was actual a response to http://forums.cardhunter.com/thread...feel-underwhelmed-by-weapons.7568/#post-93006 messed up my browser tabs. :/

I thought about laser and citadel skills in general, but I think that would also go against the nature of these strange artifacts.

    From the blog:

"Inspired by this sort of material, we wanted to create cards and items for Expedition to the Sky Citadel that reflected the theme of characters from an essentially medieval world trying to figure out how to user laser rifles, plasma guns and other stuff that would seem like magic to them. Two things came to mind immediately: making mistakes that cause problems and not having exact control over the outcome of an attempt to fire a weapon.

    --

For us, these cards really do capture the feeling of picking up a strange artifact and experimenting. What does this thing do? Will you get a Scatter Laser that lets you pick off a host of writing grubs or a Mega Laser that lets you bring down a hulking Security Robot? Only one way to find out: push that button (or pull that trigger)!"

So how would the characters attain proficiency then?

They never do. They would in a real RPG, but CH can't track that sort of thing. A pity, really.

They kind of do (i.e. they realize it is better not to mess with stuff they don't fully grasp and then return to the tried and true equipment :p)

I hate reading this thread... I am pretty sure I get the Perforator about every week. And have not bought something from Randi's in months(2)...

I think there's a lot of that going around. I'm a collector and there's a new expansion, but the ones that will show up for me will probably keep showing up, and I'll soon be down to a list the RNG won't let me have. And go for months (3 or 4) again without buying anything.
But I still like reading this thread because it shows some people are gettng what they want. :)

Last week I made a mock account to check the daily deal & do low level LF advantures "co-op" by myself. First week that account got Chartwell's Ring and this week Blue Destruction and Searing Pain, while my actual account sits with 20k gp with nothing good in RR for weeks. That's random!
