I assume this is true for everyone, but I get "Error establishing a database connection" when I try to load http://www.cardhunter.com/ I have been getting it the past two days. I can get to the game and, obviously, the forums just fine. edit: and, a minute later, it appears to be fixed. edit: annnd... it's down again for me.
We do seem to be having some intermittent problems with www.cardhunter.com, however I haven't been able to observe them yet. Please do let us know here or via email to support@cardhunter.com if you see the problem again.
i noticed the past days that the client would load everytime (the initial grey loading bar) as if a fresh release was upped. Today was the first time in 3 days it wouldnt load the 15+ MB.
I have observed the database problem, not sure what's causing it yet. I will try redeploying our website instances. If you do have a problem accessing www.cardhunter.com, you can always try logging in to game.cardhunter.com directly.
That sounds like another problem, probably related to your browser caching. What browser are you using?
For Cardhunter almost exclusively Chrome. After a few times loading i switched to Firefox to see if it would mind the cache after one start, but it wouldnt either.
I think I misunderstood the problem, when I wrote up a Flash-based aid (below). If it's the website itself causing you problems, and not the game, then I'm not sure how to help, I've never had issues with the website itself. Spoiler According to other Kong users I chat with, Chrome had some issues with Flash a relatively short while back (iirc between Jan and April); so you may want to make sure your Flash is up to date, if you haven't already. Also, clearing the browser cache should always be a first step when a flash game or webpage seems to get 'stuck' ( generally just using CTRL (or SHIFT) +Refresh (F5 or your browser's refresh icon) will clear the cache properly, so you can try that first ). If both browsers aren't loading the game correctly, you may want to check that cookies are enabled. As far as the 'Establishing Database Connection' issue (versus Checking Server Status), the times I've gotten that, it was due to my internet being choppy (Theoretically, dropping the connection while it was attempting to be made, with CH not attempting to pick it back up a moment later). This can happen due to high load times in your area, an aging modem, router, or wireless card, or your ISP just being unreliable. If you're using wireless internet, plugging in to the router will give you a more reliable connection, which may help. As far how applicable that is for CH, I'm not sure. You can browse the Kongregate Technical Support FAQ and see if anything there helps. If all else fails, you can try reinstalling Flash- On a related note, mind that Chrome comes with an internal version of Flash, so if you install Flash normally and apply it to Chrome, it can cause compatibility issues between the two, causing unusual loading problems. Two approaches to the issue are: Not applying the installed stand-alone Flash to Chrome, and just relying on the internal Flash. This is a bit tricky if you still want to use the external Flash for other browsers, though you can apparently get Flash internally through plugins in Firefox, as well. Or two, disabling the internal Flash and relying on your installed Flash. Hopefully something in there helps!
My issues where rooted in my system, overall disk usage and too dynamic virtual memory settings, at least it seems a more generous setup solved it. Nope, not fixed. The client still behaves oddly most of the times.
