I prefer my stories to be big and complex, full of depth and consequences, which is the main reason I read instead of watch them. A lot of what I read is prose fantasy series, but I've found that webcomics can often match or even surpass them in quality (and even length). I've been wanting to start a thread on webcomics, and this: reminded me I hadn't done so yet. (Because I still haven't finished updating links and page counts in my master list.) I check my favorite comics every day, and today was a good day for dialog: (links go to archives or first page to avoid spoilers)
I think my avatar gives away the one webcomic I read religiously. Hell, I even bought the game. My wife stands by Freefall as well, Kalin. She's been reading it from the beginning.
Well both of your avatars come from 2 of my absolute favorites (and I definitely need to catch up on the Freefall archives). Here's some dialogue+: http://lackadaisycats.com/comic.php?comicid=1 http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0001.html
How has Lackadaisy been missing from my life all these years??!?!?!! (Though I'm probably too impatient for its update schedule, but it's gorgeous...) Also, he doesn't quite fit my own sophisticated breeding, but this is like staring into the mirror at my soul...
Lackadaisy is an important part of the online environment. Don't forget to look through the gallery, too. In response to reader questions, some full-length comic-style madness shows up in the "Sketchbook" section. It may make me odd, but in addition to webcomics I list independent game developers on my daily rounds. I'm greatly appreciative to Farbs for dedicating one day a week to "PR," as seeing the sheer creativity people put into games is often as fun as the creativity that goes into comics.
I occasionally read Nerfnow (the website that brought me to this game), Hejibits, and Perry Bible Fellowship. A comic from Perry Bible Fellowship that made me laugh so hard I nearly lost consciousness. Spoiler
Oh right, I should contribute what little I follow: http://existentialcomics.com/ http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/
There's a thread for this? Wow! Okay, how about this? I started you guys at the beginning. Give it a few pages. http://www.grrlpowercomic.com/archives/48
Oh, and technically this is "web" "comics": http://marvel.com/mu Marvel Unlimited (online comics) 1-month subscription for 99c. Seems to have a significant portion of their archives, though the web interface is terrible. >_<
Lackadaisy books / calendars / loot in stock just in time for the holidays! http://shop.4de.com/franchises/lackadaisy
I've added Skullkickers to my read list. The idea was RPG based, and parts of it remind me of how some of our p&p sessions turned ugly.
Okay, so I just found this today, but it's brilliant. The Last Mechanical Monster, which takes up the story of one of the old Fleischer Superman cartoons that's public domain, 64 years later when the villain is released from jail. If you haven't seen the cartoon, it's public domain now, and available in full on YouTube. Seriously, this is brilliant, read it.
