When I saw the cover for Mauve Manticore #5: I mentioned that it would be cool to have a song parody contest. And today someone sent me a PM saying he has already written a couple Card Hunter song parodies. Is anyone else interested? The rules would be pretty simple: take a well-known song and change the lyrics so it talks about Card Hunter. Then we'll vote on them just like the Most Stylish contests. But first we need to know if more than one person is interested and if BM will supply any prizes.
I would be happy to hand out pizza or chests (probably the latter, depends on Jon's preference) if you get enough contestants
Could we perhaps expand this to a "fine arts" contest? Tangentially, I'd like to get some new desktop backgrounds. >_> categories: song (parody), song (original), art (2d), art (3d), interpretive dance... it'll be better than Eurovision!
As long as the "fine" in "fine arts" is very loosely defined it might work. Would interpretive Morris dancing work?
I started working on "Shrug It Off" by Taylor Swift, but it turns out that most of the rhymes with "shrug" are pretty lame.
For the new cards, I think I could create a promotional piece of fine? art called "Fresh Priest of Trog's Lair" if the contest happens.
Looks like we have about 10 players interested now. Originally I suggested just "song parody" because I felt that would be easiest to make (don't need a video) and so we'd get the most entries. But if people want to do a general Talent Show instead, we could. I'm just worried that comparing different types of entries might put some entries at a disadvantage (particularly original song vs song parody).
