The move from these spells gets blocked by the attack zone around characters is this intentional and if it is would you consider changing that? It just doesn't feel logical that my wizard would stop something from move past him that he is magically moving-.
Against other characters I could see that, but if you are the one moving him than no. Might be worth looking at I would say.
I'm sure this is intentional. Telekinesis is a "Slide" effect, to move someone else without running into obstacles you need "Teleport." What they want to prevent is giving you too much power on a low level card by letting you move your own characters past enemies. The flip side of this is that you can't move goblins and such past their enemies either.
Lets be perfectly honest the card moves 2 it could let you slide through walls and still not be close to being to powerful considering you need another thing to even make it do anything and right now you blocking your own spell still makes absolutely no sense.
In a game as complex as Card Hunter can and will get, it's probably more important that cards be as simple to understand and as elegant as possible (in general and while still remaining interesting). Keywords are a really nice feature in card games in particular because you can use them to teach players otherwise complex and wordy mechanics and condense them to one or two words. But, for them to be effective, there has to be some sort of critical level of exposure or else keywords just turn into those annoying links you have to click every time you look at a card to remember what it does. There are probably a few keyworded cards out there for which one could make the argument that they should behave slightly differently than the keyword would allow and though it might make that individual card better it may not be healthy for the game in the long run to make these changes. It's also possible that I'm just talking out of my butt since I am waiting for my next lecture and am bored.
It "makes sense" by enforcing a consistent rule about movement in the game. Some uses may seem more "real" than others but there's an argument against multiplying exceptions to accomodate individual cards. (Edit: which Scyrax just made.) The actual power level of the card is another matter: I was just guessing the devs' intent, not their success. I don't have much use for Telekinesis myself.
I don't think anyone has any real use for it since with a range of 2 and it being blocked by attack zones on both sides its a terrible card. Its big brother with a better range and multiple targets on the other hand can do some fancy tricks.
I have a real use for it. Telekinesis can push your dwarf warrior, loaded with attacks but out of movement, into melee range of the enemy. It's also good for moving enemies off of VP squares at the end of rounds. I've won at least one battle with this little "useless" card.
I also had a fight today where Telekinesis was useful. My fighter was chasing an imp and it would have gotten away - if it wasn't for my wizard who just pushed the critter back to the fighter to get the whack it deserved. Other than that time Telekinesis hasn't been that great and I'll probably switch it to something else once I get a better option.
Then again you could have done at least one potentially both those at better range with the 1 damage push 1 spell. I'm not actually saying the spell has no use ever. I'm more saying its way too situational and short ranged. Except for the devs i have probably used the card most of everyone on the beta as i love the potential but the double attack zone stopping just made me sigh every time as it ruined my elaborate plans. Not to mention the fact that its only range 2 slide 2 makes it so i had to move in to awkward positions only to realize I'm now too close and blocking my own slide.
Fair enough i still think the move shouldn't be blocked by the caster himself tho. That is my only real gripe with the spell the other things are balance opinions and in the end that's up to you guys to figure out.
Well, my warrior is an Elf and my dwarf is the Wizard. It's not that she couldn't sometimes use extra movement, but my party's not ideal for such a maneuver. I would use it more, especially in VP fights, if I were set up for it. Maybe once I work my way up to the terrain altering cards ...
