Release 2.58.0 (21 Oct 2014)

Discussion in 'Announcements' started by Jon, Oct 20, 2014.

  1. Yeah, I wouldn't mind! My understanding originally was that one could request resets a potentially unlimited number of times, though I've been holding off on my first such request until I've played at least half of the quests. (I haven't exactly been powering through them.) But it would surprise me if that were still the case. Now that quests are that much more of a farming magnet, I can envision the staff getting a lot more requests.

Not sure if this has been suggested before, but maybe something like a "Reset Quests" button that can only be used once a month?

We will reset quests only once per account, and only within the next month.

  3. Aha! Thanks, makes sense (and sorry if I missed that in another thread).

How about a reset quests button that costs pizza to use? Maybe like 500 pizza?

First time, you didn't miss anything. :)

Now to decide if I want the quest reset. . . ahhh, so much pressure!

I took it as the test case. And I'm still healthy. But I'll probably never get some of those 1-hp quests again.

So... would that be 21 Nov?

If you want a reset, just email us now and we'll give it to you. You're aware of the situation, so you have no reason to wait.

Perhaps I need time to mull it over?
When would the exact deadline be?

Do you need 4 weeks to mull it over? :)

Does the number 420 mean anything to you? Besides, some people take their mulling very seriously.

I will have to analyze it thoroughly, probably make a pros and cons table, and definitely little post-it notes all over the walls of my room and connect them with strings and all that. That will take some time.
On a serious note though, what is the reasoning for the double standard? Why are you not giving an exact deadline? I'm sure there are other people aware of the situation as well but haven't "leaked" that information to the staff yet. I'm a rational human being, there is no reason for me to want a disadvantage over others, there is no rule in the game saying "If it is proven that I have knowledge of an event, the deadline doesn't apply". I have stated the quests resetting issue before the patch and have provided possible reasonable solutions as well, but currently I'm not fond of how you're handling the situation in terms of giving unfair advantage to people playing ignorant.

It would be nice to know, but I really don't think they're that scheduled and organized.
Jon seems to be busy playing one-armed-paper-hanger (programming-wise), Farbs is doing Farbs type stuff, I don't think Ben deals with this sort of thing, and I'm not exactly sure what anyone else does. Which is a long way of saying, I doubt an exact deadline has been set.
In any case, I'd expect exceptions to be made for those truly ignorant of the reset option. (Those who haven't logged onto the server since the announcement, and may not for another month or more.)
TL;DR - Is there an exact deadline?

It's kind of murky. The long and short of my stance is this: right now, if you complete a quest, you get the new quest rewards, yeah? So isn't it super cheesy—and against the spirit of the reset—if you complete as many quests as you can after the quest change, and then request a reset? Anyone who had knowledge of the quest change prior to the update should either get, or not get, the reset. A month of mulling looks an awful lot like a month of setting up to double-dip. *shrug*

OMG, Flax! You're inferring we have greedy players! Say it ain't so!

What exactly is the process for the 'Quest' reset. Do we just send an email to cardhunter support. I'm assuming do to the large volume of players possible requesting this that the adm staff will overwhelmed by the emails on this topic. I was wondering if any other avenue was set up for this unusual situation we now find ourselves in.

I don't think there'll be nearly as much interest as one might think. You're only getting rewards equal to the loot fairy (which you can already get twice a day and though a nice bonus isn't anything to write home about most of the time). Factor in as well the time and gold it takes to complete a lot of the quests, and you're lucky if you're getting any real return for the reset. Now maybe other people see it differently, but I suspect there won't be the mad rush that you might be envisioning.

Yep. I had my quests reset, and I've rarely been getting better than rare. Just like the first time. It's hard to get motivated for them when to me they're mainly about gold, and I can speed farm more gold per hour than I'm getting from quests. Of course this is all about items I don't have yet, but I haven't found any in the first 60 or so quests. My strategy now is to maintain a gold stockpile and wait for them to show up in Randi's.
