I made a new and interesting deck for Ruby Demon Portal

I was fooling around with my deck building strategies for 1hp runs, and I found what could be the start of an amazing deck! It has a couple of problems with handling the acid imps from the second level, but it completes the first battle like a dream, as you can see below.

As made clear from the decklist above, the ability to win flawlessly revolves around two facts: the AI doesn't like discarding it's spells, and Fire imps and Arcane imps both have the card Brain Burn in their decks. While your adventurers are located a safe distance away out of line-of-sight (in this case, Randimars), the imps' skulls fry like an egg on the pavement next to a Fire Sprite. The second level is a challenge, as acid imps are lacking in any fun deck cycling cards and seem unwilling to place acid beneath themselves, but I'm sure I'll get past them eventually, hopefully before the demon portal is opened. Suggestions on improvement are welcome!

Umm decklist? I don't see a decklist. Just a big ol' blank spot.

    Exactly! :p

Ok then... Guess my sarcasometer isn't working right now. Are you saying the best strategy for beating the portal is to not play it?

The first level of Ruby Demon Portal is two Fire imps and two Arcane imps. Both enemies have brain burn and no way to heal, so if you enter the map with no characters, they will eventually die from Brain Burn dealing damage to them. The second level contains Acid imps, so that strategy doesn't work as Acid imps have no Brain Burn in their decks.

And how do you enter a level with no characters???

By creating a party with one character, saving the party, deleting the character, then loading the saved party and entering the level as you usually would with a party consisting of something other then air.

Interesting. I'm sure I'd never have discovered this.

Ha! Very clever. I should give you a quick heads-up on this however - In preparation for campaign co-op I've made it easier to remove all your characters (so that it's easier to manage a single character party) however I've also added a new party certification restriction requiring that you have at least one character. Sorry about that :)

The party certification codepath has always been pretty flakey though, so you might find a way around it.

Wait so how does this work? Do you have to pass or does Gary just take turns forever?

You do have to pass, as you can do nothing else. Gary will always pass unless he has brain burn, as the map has no victory squares to path to or Player Characters to attempt to defeat.

Checked it again, you can't do it anymore. Sorry guys, no longer can you adventure from the comfort of your own home :(

I'm late to the thread, but I still think this is awesome.

A time-honored tradition. Poking at the extremes allowed by the code until something "breaks," without actually breaking the rules.
