I've always liked handicap quests, but it's weird that there isn't any martial skills with handicap cards. I'm sure others have noticed this too and probably mentioned it several times in these forums. One solution would be to make Backbiting Strike into handicap. I know this will raise a question if other similar cards should also be considered handicap cards. (e.g. Bungled Bolt, Demonic Feedback) Other option would be to create entirely new martial skills. Here's one suggestion: Inept Chopping
We should have martial skills with handicaps. Clumsy Chop is kind of a handicap itself, so I'd recommend something better. Maybe even Weak Chop.
I know brought it up ~9 months ago (source). Copying over my old suggestions: Off-Balance Bashing: Bruiser, Able Bash, Trip Untrained Berserking: Blind Rage, Raging Strike, Ouch! Careless Attacker: Impaler, Slicer, Dropped Guard Edit: new suggestion All-or-Nothing Assault: All-Out Attack, Fright, Fright
Making Backbiting Strike and/or Weak Strike into having the "Handicap" keyword would fix the problems without adding new items.
Yes but both cards, or Weak Strike at the very least is NOT A DRAWBACK. It's just a tar-quality card. Even worse, we are here advocating for this change in order to use these items for Drawback only quests. Why? There's no drawback tournament (yet) and I really hope that we get a fresh batch of quests, because the 1hp/drawback/no deaths is getting really really OLD after a year.
No, you are wrong! Handicap is not the same thing as tar quality! Weak Strike and Backbiting strike play the role as some of the most important item-changing cards in the game. What would the Strongarm be without Weak Strike making it level 6 tokenless? What would Double-edged Sword be without Backbiting Strike making it level 17 item? It's not the same thing.
I'm not wrong -- I never said they ARE classified as handicap. Also, it is called black quality. Just saying for the purposes of the challenge it might be nice if they (or at the very least Backbiting Strike) was classified so there is SOME item for use there.
And I disagree. Weak Strike and Backbiting Strike aren't really handicap card material. Bad cards? Maybe. Would it be nice if you could use any item with Backbiting Strike for drawback quests? Sure, I guess. But my original point is the same. There's no point anymore.
The only point of classifying them as "handicap" is for the quests. There is no other reason that I'm aware of that the classification matters.
Well, my point is that in Quick Draw, you get 1 Gold Quality card, 1 Black Quality Card, 1 Paper, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze. Handicap or not.
The quests can only be done once, so they're new to each player. Some 1hp quests became much more difficult, perhaps impossible, with the latest balance changes. If quests were reset periodically, changes would be more of a concern to older players. As I see it, this is to improve the game for those yet to come. Of course, there is also the prospest of drawback-only tourneys. I think there should be a small selection of handicap cards in every category. Some should be better than empty slots, some should be worse, and players should have to determine which is which.
OK. So now we need three things: A drawback Martial Skill, a legendary Divine skill, and a legendary Arcane skill. Then us completionists will be happy! I'd host a drawback tournament if I knew 3+ people were interested.
