So the last two weeks have been nuts. Plenty of cool legendaries and epics popping into the shops, and it wasn't long before my meagre collection of treasure was exhausted. I'm currently glaring at my 3 Antioch's Figurine, 3 Spear of St. Quaith, 3 Ozone Plates and 3 Juniper's Jumper and wondering, why can't I collect these awesome new items, that I don't have, instead of collecting more duplicates of items I don't need? Problem is, I would have to sell 25 legendaries to afford just one new item. So my suggestion is thus. How about you trade 3-5 legendaries into a shop in exchange for the legendary item of your choice? Same goes for Epics, I have enough Sharp Shell for a dozen Warriors but I would have like to own a single Basher's Delight if it ever shows, not that I can afford to blow 500 g on it right now. Gotta collect em all, right? *EDIT* No Neoncat, not 1/8. Like, 1/3 -1/5. Also, I don't recommend increasing the sell price of items very much at all. But being able to trade would be cool.
So, in other words, the sell price of legendaries and epics should be bumped to something more reasonable, like 1/8 (~300 and 60 respectively)?
I don't think it would be wise to reward players that have been keeping their surplus items like this.
Someone's going to be unhappy no matter what changes we make. Some players will be more or less 'punished' compared to others depending on their habits if we ever change anything like Pizza-gold conversion rate, drop rates, sell values, etc... Heck, some players who got Firestorm setups for SP more recently than others were relatively unfairly treated by the FS nerf! Can't please everyone.
True dat. It makes me feel bad about some of the advice I gave in the "Rate My Randimar's" thread. Not just on FS, but also saying VP would still be a very good item after any nerf. I'm definitely not a prophet.
So what, are you going to punish players who have put so much time into this game? I mean, anyone can stick real money -> pizza -> gold into the game and buy anything they like. Why can't players who have supported the game for a long time, have a little help filling out their collection?
OK, being a bit dramatic here. I was responding to this: Why not reward players for collecting surplus legendaries? I certainly never wanted 3 Staff of the Misanthrope, but I got em. The fact is, it doesn't matter what you do, the chances of a certain legendary dropping is independent of what legendaries you already have. I'd just like to diversify and try to squeeze as much entertainment out of this game as possible.
Yes, of course it's not possible to please anyone. I just meant that, say, by increasing drop rates, I don't think anyone would lose anything because it was not possible to farm with better rates back then. Or it was not possible to trade pizza for more gold back then if you happen to change the ratio. But it was always possible to keep the extra items, they don't sell for much anyway. I've been selling them mostly to have a better overview of my collection and extra big inventory would cause lag. Since selling takes time, that time could be spent on gold farming instead.
I'm waiting to see what economic changes BM comes up with. If dr0p rates improve, pizza to gold exchange improves (wouldn't matter to me, but some would like it), buy prices drop and/or sell prices improve, it's no skin off my nose. The Randimar changes have made more items available. CH has seemed a bit on the "loot poor" side to me. I don't think a glut would be good for a loot chase game, so I hope they don't go that far, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if things loosened up a bit and players could reach the collection level I'm at in less time. I hope I like the economic changes better than the balance nerfs which made SP slower, more boringly plodding, less fun, and with fewer viable builds. I mean, thats all fun for a nudie run, but not when there is serious farming to be done.
Why cant we just have a 1-1 trade in for Epic/Legendary/Rare items. But it has to be a true 1 to 1 meaning level has to match or mutiples need to add up the level of the item trading for. For example, you would need to trade 4 Anitoch's Figurines or 3 level 6 legendaries or 1 level 18 legendary to get a Heartripper (no change or extra value if the numbers are not exact) and it should additionally cost 50gp/100gp/500gp for a trade (which would make rare trades less useful, but this way it could be 1 mechanism for Randi/Daily Deals). Oh and no "backsies" items traded in disappear forever! So you would have to be sure you want to do it. Probably a semi-complex coding required and not sure if this would fit into the model for CH, but that is what I would do. I've always though higher level items should trade for higher multiples (maybe 33% for level 1-6, 66% for 7-12 and full value for 13-18), I know the reknown system does this for cost, but it only inflates cost neve deflates them (of course then how do you sell a level 1 common do you get .33 gp?) More thought needs to go into this but it seems odd that rarity matters (significantly) but level doesn't at all.
