Hey all at Blue, love the hard work you guys are doing and I wish you luck with everything! Now to the purpose of this thread, would you be at all willing to set up some sort of buy-in to the beta? Now don't get me wrong, I am perfectly willing to wait my turn to get my e-mailed key; I just think that a lot of people would gladly hand over a sum of cash to you guys to get in early. You could use this cash as extra development budget or as just personal bonuses for being awesome. Officially waiting for beta key e-mail or buy-in, Naraxis. Have a great day!
I think they already responded to a similar question with "not yet - but considering". From twitter: https://twitter.com/BlueManchuGames/status/289535627853185024
I'm thinking more of a persistent account that you add pizza to as well as receive an early beta key.
However idea is nice, it will be hard for them, because they clearly stated that pizza prices presented are just placeholders Still, some persistent "premium" accounts could be nice as long as they are not very expensive. I'm enjoying to pay less money more often than throwing quite much once a while.
They just started this over on MechWarrior Tactics. I imagine it's a pretty decent way to generate some "final push" revenue. I'd spend a little money to get into the beta.
Thanks for reminding me of this game! I registered so long ago I have forgotten about it, and they weren't sending any emails to me I went to check it out, of course they are sending keys too, so I don't think I will be able to play pre-release
As for MWT, I'd give it a while. It's still very rough. I see the potential and I was happy to support the developers with my money, but it still feels very much like an alpha, not a beta. Unless, of course, you just want to get in there and start giving the developers feedback. It's fun in its own way. And Joshua, as you said, I'm thinking this game is more of what I'm looking for, anyway.
It's too late for me to be willing to spend any money to get into the beta. if I was going to pay anything, I would have wanted to get in as soon as it started.
I'd be fine with a buy-in beta if it came with an amount of pizza or limited edition cardboard figures or something. Paying just to get into beta for a free game and not getting anything for it would be kind of silly however!
Would have been worth it to me if it would have bought me access during the whole period, but that ship has obviously sailed already. But I might reconsider if some stuff that I was going to MAYBE buy anyway came with it...
Isn't the beta just a few weeks old at this point? Seems a little premature to declare "too little, too late." I'd still be more than happy to pay a little to get in. Other models I've seen for the beta buy-in is that you get something similar to the following: -Beta access. -A special icon or name color for the forums. -Some quantity of in-game currency. -A special graphical option of some kind. Unique character skins or alternate art for certain cards. -The promise of some quantity of purchasable income once the pay store is open. Some or all of those things are usually involved. It doesn't have to be spectacular to be enticing.
The thing about a beta buy-in is that they would be opening the floodgate on the beta, since many MANY people would likely pay, and then (rightly) feel entitled to play. So the only way I see a "buy-in" working is if they were feeling good enough about the servers and game's stability to allow a massive influx of people. But if that were the case, I'd assume all the people signed up would already have been given keys, and thus the incentive to "buy-in" would be null. In other words, I don't think they'd want to allow people to buy in unless they were ready for an open-beta-sized server load. At which point they'd probably be more inclined to just go into open beta. So, I wouldn't hold your breath for a buy-in.
Unless they charged like $50 or something like that. That amount would probably be too much fore most people, knowing that if they just waited a while, the game will eventually be open and free.
I just hope they wont make pay2win system.. I just hope they will stick to the 'cosmetic' advantages with paying + premium dungeons which have guaranteed rare drop of some kind. Those ideas are nice, and aren't gamebreaking for people who can't afford paying. I'd love to pay some money to them too, so they can develop it better/faster, but still, paid beta access is an option of games which were made pay2win (or to ahcieve anything more after first few hours of play) from my experience. 50$ is about how much people earn in two 8hours long workdays in Poland. So that's quite a lot if you ask me, considering how much living costs..
Nah, everything I've seen about this game points directly AWAY from pay2win. Even the best loot, while it will surely be found easier and quicker in the "premium" dungeons, can be found by grinding enough in the normal free to play levels.
