[Suggestion] Renaming items

As a proud owner of Ulrin's Scuttling Socks, and with the recent changes to scuttle, shouldn't these now be named Ulrin's Leaping Socks?

I'm sure there are many more examples of these misnomers now that many things have been changed, perhaps it's time to look at this?

Obviously flavor issues such as these are of almost no importance in the grand scheme of things, but I think a good looking over such things would be appreciated!

 

I'm interested in doing this. Would make things easier if there were a compiled list of items that people think need new names.

 

I suppose Bewlin's Benerfed Bauble would be a bit too snarky.

 

Aork's Vial Of Memories to Aork's Vial of Spelling

Anyone named Aork has got to be good at that.

 

Bimson's Hard Stone to Bimson's Wet Stone.

 

Chartwell's Ring to Chartwell's Ring of Self Immolation?

Sorry. That wasn't a real suggestion.

 

It's actually already been renamed to Bimson's Water Stone, though I like yours better. ^_^

Wallbuilder's Bracelet --> Geomancer's Bracelet
Wallbuilder's Scepter --> Geomancer's Scepter
Wallbuilder's Staff --> Geomancer's Staff

And more (edit):
Robes Of The Crab --> Robes of the Mantis (??? trying to find something that can leap/fly and has claws, so it doesn't require an art change)

 

Counterblast Staff (Really cool name, BTW ) to Forgetful staff.
And virtually every item with Counterspell.

Since there's no more Violent Overswing, perhaps Controlled Overswing could be renamed into Overswing?

 

I like Violent Overswing as a name, more. Maybe keep the Controlled effect, but rename to Violent?

 

Wrong. There are still Violent Overswing, it's just that they are on common items now!

Also, Controlled Overswing is a stupid name. How about Crushing Overswing? Skilled Overswing?

FWIW, I wish they would have left the two cards alone, except boosted the damage of Violent Overswing, made it Hard To Block, or give it an extra effect (like forcing the enemy to discard a card). That way Mindless Aggression would actually be a cool item, along with everything else with Violent Overswing, which is probably my favorite attack card.

 

I don't know any items that you can get after the latest release that still has Violent Overswing.

I do know that enemies that used to use them, still do so.

Why does this bother you? None of the items that had Violent Overswing are gone. They're in fact improved.

I personally like the fact that Violent Overswing was replaced by Controlled Overswing.

And yes, I know that Obsidian Club and Vinewrapped Cudgel are now Rare items instead of Uncommon. (as they should)

"Edit" - I forgot that there were plenty of other Uncommon weapons that are now rare (e.g. Shadowleaf Maquah & Silver Maquah)

I know you're all talking about the function of the thing, but one thing that's bugged me is the visuals. I gotta say that Violent Overswing has superior art to Controlled Overswing. Also, the latter only exists as a reference to the former, and the former is now seen too late by new players, so it's a messed-up artistic presentation.

I like pretty pictures. It's also why I keep arguing for the return of Rat Boots, with their no-longer-used-for-anything art:

Maybe we can convince @Jon to rename Controlled Overswing to Violent Overwing and use the old art?
