The second battle there is, uh, missing. As in, beat some goblins, and then skip the level with the war dog and go straight to goblin hulk. Both confusing and threw a wrench into the Nudie run I started.
It's been discussed if this map was removed. Not sure, since I haven't seen it it any build posts, but likely not a bug.
Well in that case, I suppose the bug is that it still reads that there are 4 thrilling battles, and I was only delivered THREE thrilling battles.
Alright hold up a minute, the third battle in Ruby demon portal wasn't there either. How many of these removals are there? EDIT: All the battles in Rescue from Shieldhaven are there and that's the last adventure with 4 battles for a while, so I'm guessing the rest are unadjusted.
It's possible this is part of some new planned sp balance work - and it was merged into the live client misstakenly, since it wasn't even mentioned during testing.
It is indeed part of planned sp balance work. We definitely need to tweak the module covers. Suffice to say, we're still working on it.
Um, deleting content is SP balance? I was really hoping it would move in the other direction. I've been working on a suggestion for an addition.
Yeah... um... can they at least go to some graveyard of abandoned maps? Those weren't even difficult maps, but I suppose y'all have the stats regarding where folks fail the most.
There was a couple of maps removed at the end of the beta. We suggested they'd come back as quests, new game + or something like that. Hopefully they get reused, a lot of old them we haven't seen in a long while - and would even be brand new to most people. Seems like a waste of design not to get them back in the game somehow, mentioned this to Jon.
Yes, sorry I didn't announce this. It's part of some rework to the early game to better suit new players. I understand that it's not helpful to those of you who've been playing for a while. Perhaps we can bring back some old battles as part of a MM in the future. In the meantime, I'm fixing the module covers.
Forest Edge had one of the lowest win rates in the early game. We also thought that Ruby Demon Portal was a bit too repetitive.
Hmm. The situation with the Goblin map is thought-provoking. With this change, there is exactly one map of "Whoa, my Wizard is terrible against Goblins!" before two maps of "I'll just beat up on these fleshy non-Armored enemies." The player doesn't learn much about Blocks anymore, just about avoiding a hulking target (which was already learned in The Wizard's Workshop). Interestingly, you're saying that the second map was bad and not the first one: so the problem wasn't players getting stuck on anti-Block strategy, rather on anti-dog strategy? Could more Blocking enemies fit into the adventure without ruining balance? At least this way the dog maps are confined more "logically" to levels with human masters. I suppose that's a plus.
Yes, I think it's a bit of a weird adventure now that it's been pruned down so far. It probably would be better to cut the Hulk battle and bring back Forest Edge in a new form.
I'll throw my opinion out there that even though I didn't even notice the missing adventures, I'm disappointed that they were removed.
