Okay, let's see what trash Randi brought in this week... Swiz's Circlet Of Elements - no thank you sir, 2500g for such an item, not really worth it WTF The Hackmaster??? Insta-buy Now I'm really glad last week I didn't spend my gold on fancy items I didn't really need Other assorted interesting stuff Mouse Boots - I might as well buy a second pair, given these are among the best token-less boots in the game Bloodfoot Wand - looks okay for its token cost Charging Boulder - Brutal Charge can pack quite a punch, and Toughness is obviously good. Cautious Trickery - the only token-less Elven Trickery skill which doesn't come with a drawback card attached. Shuddering Relic - Token-less + Mass Frenzy + Enervating Touch. Seems like a no-brainer to me Marblehilt Blade - Might look quite bad at first glance but, after some wiki-checking, I noticed this is the only Sundering Strike 1-minor-token weapon Goat Boots - Interestingly, I have about 6 pairs of Sticky Slippers, but none of these. Token-less Immovable boots look nice to have Vassal's Plate - This might be useful for drawback-only quests
Please look at the Flame Jet a bit before making a decision. It's very powerful; most of the time you are able to hit several enemies with it. And it deals a very decent damage with Firestarter. Did you notice that almost all Flame Jet items are legendary? Actually, this is a nice item, and useful for any fire mage, even Cone of Cold. Miligar's Dragon Tongue and Wym's Fiery Bangle are more focused, but this one isn't much worse. It isn't mandatory of course, but I'd sooner buy this than five epics like Mouse Boots or Cautious Trickery. We have to prefer quality to the quantity in this game. I felt the same when I've found it. Played it a bit, then replaced it with a weapon having step attacks...
Yes, I have a feeling The Hackmaster isn't as good as it looks, but still that's the only Almighty Hack item, and definitely a high dmg weapon. I really can't pass on this one. As for the Circlet. I do have Wym's Fiery Bangle, and I rarely use it despite the fact my main MP build includes a fire wiz. The main issue I have with Flame Jet is it's mid-range and the fact it needs careful party positioning of your whole party (unless your warriors like bathing in flames ). This is mainly about MP ofc. When it comes to SP farming though, FS, Ember Burst/Fireball and Volcano/Firewall are better cards to spend your tokens on, in my opinion. So yeah, I used to use Flame Jet way more in the past. But now? Definitely not a huge fan.
Did you try the warriors in Arrogant Armor? It has awesome synergy with area spells. You can play Cone of Cold, and your warrior will be unaffected. You can play Flame Jet, and he will take 1 damage max. If you have just *one* Wym's Fiery Bangle, let me remind that wizards have 4 item slots Flame Jet is worse than Fireball and Ember Burst, but these cards usually come only from the staves. I am collecting all the potentially useful fire items, but that's just me. I can be a latent pyromaniac
I'd like to get a second opinion on Eadrik's Boots. Money is not an issue; I have lots of boots but nothing with Leather Harness, Chain Harness or Enchanted Harness.
What a coincidence I just got those like 20 min ago from melvelous quest. My first reaction was, ooo violent spin Cool My 2nd reaction was oh great 2 leather harness.. just throw it on the pile I mean if gold is no object to you you could get them for their uniqueness, and maybe someday leather harness will be made worthwhile. Maybe use for some hyper specialized armor build but the thing is I'd still prefer something like enchanted harness + primary armor + officer harness. For token cost maybe leather is the only option I dunno For blue token and violent spin I still think I'd prefer Vinorkin's Boots
No Legendary items this week. But Cautious Trickery is there and I don't own anything with Elven Trickery. For 100g seems worth it.
With all the Legendaries last week, no Ls this week. Epics (9): Apprentice Insight - crappy. Only 1 good card in there. 1 Minor on top of that. Vinorkin's Boots - not sure about this one Blessed Mail - I already have Reliable Mail and that's better Dorimer's Boots - all 3 card are good, not sure if I like spending a Major on things that only move Hylithia's Wand - have 1, second is good <3 Mage control Japper's Energy Boots, Major's Helmet, Shimmering Helm, Yolop's Talisman - crap Oh yeah and an Infused Greatclub popped up too.
Can be the best on some maps with restricted movement. This is a specialized *tokenless* anti-magic helmet. How it can be a crap? I bet you will use it many times at league maps favoring magic and ranged attacks. If you're playing MP, this is your warrior's best defense from Firestorms.
This week I have Aork's Vial Of Memories. It's no baffling bauble; but is it worth picking up? Also: Dworia's Soulstone (#2) Staff Of Peril Damn I wish I had bought Eadrik's Boots. They're not Absolem's Leather Shoes, but still... Oh well.
Randimar is obviously mocking me. Last week he brought me only one Legendary - Porior's Nimble Mace. I was skeptical about it, but decided to buy it at last. What do you think I have now? Right, just another copy of the same mace! Grrr.... I have 8 epics, mostly crappy. Only Wuuna's Vampiric Shroud is obviously good. Since there is Inkstained Bone, and I had Badjeera's Black Relic last week, looks like Randimar wants me to build a vampire priest Other doubtful items are: Angry Jack's Helmet. All 3 cards are good enough, but would you spend a token on this? Perfect Flexibility. Can anyone explain what's the sense of transferring the cards from one character to another? Giving my Arrogant Armor to a wizard who cannot have it? There should be a really powerful combo to justify spending a yellow token on this, especially considering Flimsy Block is a crap.
I would buy it. It isn't as universal as the bauble, but if you know that the enemy is using magic, Forgetfulness is better than SPR, since it has far better range. This is going to be very good versus the dragon at Black Plume Mountain, for instance; just play Forgetfulness before SPRs Personally I'm not a big fan of Savage Curse in melee, and this item has it + two melee-only cards. Bad synergy IMHO. I'd buy that for the farming. Makes a great combo with Electroporter Novice.
I love Angry Jack's Helmet for SP since it's an easy way to give Blind Rage to my human warrior. Walk, Team! is nice but if it had War Cry instead, not only would it be more thematic but it would be a better helmet to boot. In any case, you have to look at it as a damage-buff trait and a Walk Team instead of just Wimpy or Obvious Maneuver + Hardy Mail. It's a good helmet for a warrior if there ever was one. As for Perfect Flexibility, yeah it can be pretty hard to justify using let alone buying... but it is the only skill with two ABT. So if you did want to pull off any shenanigans, this is the item you want. More to the point, Flimsy Block is not crap. It's great for stopping Short Perplexing Ray, wizards will often assume you have no blocks and then Bam! Flimsy Block saves the day. I'm still not sure about Forgetfulness when I could just be using Counterspell. Spellbane Scepter is at least a hundred times cheaper. Also, Dworia's Soulstone has Savage Curse, then Touch of Death and Mass Frenzy. ToD is Magic, not melee even though it has 1 range; I actually did use the soulstone for 1/1/1 in campaign since it has 3 great cards for that on it. I would agree that Mass Frenzy doesn't match up as well with the other 2 cards as much as other items, like with Unholy Energy (Savage Tome) or Nimbus (Black Token) It is one decent source of Savage Curse at least. I'll think about buying Staff Of Peril if you can convince me it's better than Sorcerery Staff and Unstable Staff.
Thanks Jade, you've sold the helm to me It would be very interesting to get General Gideon's Helm as well and build a warrior with 4 ABT But I cannot invent a combo so powerful to spend two yellow tokens on this. Looks like it's the card that cannot work now. It would be useful if if would always trigger on the attacks with 2 or less damage. But with 3+ chance it's still a crap alas. I wonder, why did they create two almost identical cards? It doesn't matter whether ToD is melee or magic. I've meant that a character fighting at close range cannot afford running Savage Curse, since he needs the block and armor cards all the time. A vampire priest may be an exception though, since most of his attacks are quite weak, and playing one Cursed attack will be better than two non-Cursed, especially versus armor. Oh, that's easy. Sorcerery Staff has no electrical attacks and no "hard to block" attacks, so its damage output will be lesser, plus Brain Burn can even kill you. The Unstable Staff is really unstable: it has much lower damage at long range and two Unstable Bolts that can damage you. If you play it, you will frequently encounter the situations where you will lack damage at long range and have to move closer to play the Unstable Bolt, risking to trigger it at yourself. The Staff of Peril has just one Unstable Bolt and three Deadly Sparks, so you will rarely need to move before playing the Bolt. Arcane Curse isn't much of a curse, it's just a nuisance. In SP you will be able to attack with them most of the time
Wow, a fountain of legendaries rain down upon me this week with 6! Must be my wedding present from Randimar. One is a no brainer but some others are tough choices and i need some insight. Brin's Storm Circlet : Seems like a no brainer buy. Looks like the second best FS tokenless item in the game next to Chartwell's Ring Troll's Ire I never know how to approach weapons with cycling cards on them as they are not comparable in a dmg number sense to items with 6 attack cards. All the attack cards are good dmg or have good effects but im not sure how often i would ditch Lochaber Axe or Infused Greatclub for this. Thoughts on how to quantify cycling cards on weapons for comparative analysis? Golden Wings: Seems interesting and fun for a map like "roll out the barrels". It is certainly unique! Aranak's Chain Webbing seems kind of bad considering that you want die roll boosts for high dmg prevention armor which is only ever on the heavy armor slot which you just filled with aranak's chain webbing. Thoughts on applications? Trained Evasion If it were tokenless, sure. For a blue..... not so much. I dont really play elves though so maybe im way off on this. Eegonnic's Shield doesnt seem worth the money, especially since i already own one and use Twisting Shield over it. Also had some really good/ interesting epics Shimmering Helm I already have Shimmering Hood, is this that much better? Master's Battleaxe Great chop weapon, would consider picking it up. Vira's Shoes Seem great for FS build and will likely pick them up Pip's Anklet I use Ixtli Amulet for deathmarch league which i feel is better. Opinions? Ok, thats it. Lots of interesitng potential buys, but i cant buy em all. Thanks for the input!
Blind Rage is nice, but you can get it from the other items, and you don't need to maximize its number. Thus, I think you can pass on it. Hmm... Get extra cards or get some damage - what is better? You can skip them if you're short on money. Bertha's Big Clogs and Xalanen's Boots aren't much worse. I wouldn't spend a yellow token on this. Congratz for so much interesting items!
Shimmering Helm Well said, but one thing some overlook is that Shimmering Aura and Quick Reactions also work against projectiles. It isn't an issue in MP because your opponent won't be firing bolts or slinging acorns, but a Shimmering Helm atop your step warrior can help make short work of Alonzo and his buds over at Batford's place.
