-)So - I finally got a Vibrant Pain. Excellent - it feels great to open a legendary of that quality. But then I'm told that everyone should stop using it. Crap - so now I got an MP useless legendary(if I want to be a good community member)? (Still good in SP, but it takes away the excitement). It's not like my collection is so huge I can make up for the card with a ton of other cards - I only just got my first bejeweled shortsword. -)Hey, Death March - hmm, Wall of Stone seems like a logically good card for this map - guess I'll include it. Pity it makes the map much less interesting. It's great when you open a powerful card that you get to use, especially when your collection is smaller. It's terrible if you can't use it. My suggestion would be to support MtG style Restricted lists for Items and Cards. Unlike a Banned list, a restricted list can still let you use that nifty item you got, at least if you only have one of them. And for most people with smaller collections, we only do have 1 of them (I have exactly 1 duplicate legendary). Banned list could per-character, or per party - and could be per card or per item. As an example, for Flaxative's post on opting out of VP and WW - one could restrict: 1) One Vibrant Pain per party. 2) 2 WWE, 1 WW per party. (AFAIK that allows every item, even Rod of Winds, but limits you a bit) I think banning is a bad idea for ladder, but for leagues, specific cards could be banned as necessary - No Wall of Stone on Death March, for instance. Note that this would probably require a step before queuing where your build is verified. TLDR: -For ladder, restricting cards/items to a few copies lets every player enjoy the first time they get a new item but lets powerful items have less effect. -For leagues, individual cards can be banned - the league will rotate out and your cards will be useful again soon enough(and ladder still exists)
Gratz on the VP! My advice is to enjoy it now in case its nerfed. Prepare a deeply remorseful heartfelt apology for later.
