Make Crappy Epic/Legendary items worth more

I really don't have a strong opinion on a reset one way or another (though I may have some opinions on how it should be implemented if it is), but I thought it's worth noting that based on Lord Feleran's numbers for two people who regularly farm the level 17 adventures, if one person could reset Randimar's just once a week, they would have about a 60% better chance of getting a specific legendary item that week than someone who could not afford it. Obviously that number just goes up even higher if you can reset multiple times a week or when compared to those who do not farm.

I dont see how trading in items for a random item of the same rarity would hurt the game. In effect if it is let's say 5-1 trade ratio instead of the 25-1 sell-buy ratio for legendaries, it would not hurt the game unless someone consistantly got the specific legendary they wanted in less than 5 tries. If you wanted to put a limit on it I would say that you could only get back items you do NOT have. Right now there already is a system of farming it is just a matter of the frequency of success. I used to be a fairly active player and while I am not a "top player" I am no noob (current MP ranking 1490 soon to go down I am sure) and in playing daily for months with club membership I was not able to get a VP or a blazing shortsword or a single item with volcano on it (got one with volcano recently and now never use it).
What I wanted to see was multiples based on level of the item. A level 1 rare costs and sells for the same as a level 18 rare. While I know there is a certain sweet spot (level 8 for tokenless non-weapon items) I think a 3 tiered system would make sense to me from a role playing aspect. Keep the current prices for levels 7-12, reduce them for 1-6 and increase them for 13-18.
None of this would change my feelings about getting a level 18 legendary that I would never use, because certain cards are overvalued level/rarity -wise. But at least I could sell it for 200 gold which would be much closer to the cost fo the Blazing Shortsword I can't beleive I still dont have. I have 3 of multiple epic shields but cant get 1 lousy Blazing?

If the game was balanced and there were a lot of viable items at ranked mp, then a trade system, a crafting system or this reset Randimar's idea wouldn't be so bad. But, given the current situation where there's clearly one item that is above all the rest, and some legendaries that stand in a second step also above the rest (like Bewlin's Baffling Bauble or Bleneth's Skull), all these ideas would only make mp even more predictible, because every player would be looking for those items. I never got anything good from Randimar's, and I hate being so unlucky with that, but not for that reason I will be in favour of a reset, because that would lead to even more players having VPs and those legendaries I mentioned before, in other words, even less variance than now.

Level 6 you mean for Tokenless items?

Anyway, trading in some items for others would be kind of pointless since everyone would be trading in the weaker Legendary items non-stop. That doesn't really fix the system, it just makes it worse as no one would have interesting and weird Legendary items -- they'd all go for trading in for "top of class stuff."

And I'm surprised you haven't gotten a Blazing Shortsword... check Randimar or farm the level 6 missions maybe? I have like 5 of them... (granted I only own 1 Lochaber though so results may vary, which is why Card Hunter is so addicting)

Yes, balance is a huge issue that holds back a lot of things. Right now with the ability to easily get Whiteglow Flails I've seen them on basically every single Priest while before it was offered it was a MUCH, MUCH less occurrence.

Personally I'm really happy everyone has Whiteglow Flails. Because, you know, competitive multiplayer game. Still think everyone should have every item for PvP :)

Which is where we differ in opinion. If everyone had every item then how would Blue Manchu make money? What would be the incentive in playing single player again or multiplayer once you've reached a high Elo (if that is even enough motivation by itself)?

The difference is like a competitive game of Magic: The Gathering or a competitive game of Poker. One relies on having some of the best stuff to be competitive at the highest level, the other just requires skill above all else.

Imagine if Poker didn't have "for money" games... would people play it casually? Would it still make money? Compare that to MtG where people play it casually and it supports an entire industry of board and card game stores due to how profitable it is...

Everyone in a magic tournament brings the best cards they can think to use— haven't we had this discussion before? :p
    And Wizards makes money.
    Magic is pay-to-win :)

It's a thing with pros and cons. The good thing is that more players can play more competitively faster than before because of the starter pack, the bad thing is less variance. Anyway, it isn't so bad with Whiteglow Flail because, despite it's a solid divine weapon, there are other good ones in the epic range (Nimbus Blade, Healing Hand Mace and Godtouched Spear).

Yes, people at a MtG tournament bring the best cards they can think to use -- just like in Card Hunter people bring the items / cards that they think are the best.

MtG is pay-to-win because it is a physical thing. Imagine if you could get new cards simply by playing the game (a la MtG: Planewalkers). That would be Card Hunter.

Changing the format is essentially changing the entire game.

There are a few others, but Whiteglow Flail is in the top 5 best in class. Having that available easily makes builds very similar. It wasn't healthy for the game and was basically a 100% pay-to-win situation. I just hope we never have something like that again. Rares and lower are fine, and maybe an Epic that isn't one of the best possible choices.

I have very limited time but no have not farmed for the Blazing... Would you suggest just playing the regular adventures or do I need to try the quests which I have finished about half of them (the easy half)?

*For all non-weapon items level 8 is tokenless. Level 7-8 weapons are the only ones with tokens. For example Dependable Mail is level 8 armor tokenless, but Trogsbane is (minortoken) and the aforementioned Blazing Shortsword is of course tokenless at level 6.

I assume you've been checking Randimar each week. Make sure to do the Loot Fairy when it is near a level 6 adventure. I've done all the level 6 quests (and a few lower and higher). That might help as well if you're short on time.

The Loot Fairy is at White Star which means you should be able to do it twice. Once now, then at 0:00 UTC when the levels restart you can refresh and do it again. That should heavily increase your chances.

Thanks. Too bad I can't play until after 0:00 UTC.

That's fine. If you just open a tab for the game and let it idle you can finish the level, then reload the tab to refresh it. You don't have to play it now, just make sure not to reload your tab until after you finish it! =)
