So i read Flaxatives thread about "cosmetic" prizes for completing an item set, and it hit me that it would be fun to implement his idea in some kind of achievement system. http://forums.cardhunter.com/threads/suggestion-cosmetic-item-sets.5898/ (Read thread to know what im talking about) There could be achievements for other than items sets aswell, for example finishing campaign, missions, being on the game for a specific time. The prizes can vary from items to figurines! Maybe even some kind of lobby chat icon? That would be cute! The default icons could be your "rank" icon, but maybe you could win some special ones from completing achievements. Example: Come with some ideas/suggestions other than these examples if you think its a good or bad idea !
Jon once mentioned he had a whole achievement system worked out, but hadn't had the time to actually implement it. Unless that was just a dream I had*. *I have a lot of dreams about Card Hunter. The other night I was in a scary abandoned house, but it was okay, because I could defend myself with my super awesome divine weapon that had 3 cards: 2x Icy Polearm Slash (range 2 melee + encumber target, gold), and 1x Electrifiable (basically Combustible trait but for electricity damage).
I would prefer daily/weekly missions over fixed achievments. For example I am out of quests and I feel like I'll love achievments so I'll run out of them too eventually. With missions that refresh daily and/or weekly, that's a perpetual fun. Possible example for a mission/achievment: kill the level 18 white dragon with a barge
If the API ever gets working on live, 3rd-party achievements (to the extent possible) are my next project.... >_>
Why not both?! Thats a great idea as well! I feel like achievements could be for long term projects though. Things that you cant finish in one week For example collecting the sets or have a specific % of items?
Spent today thinking up a bunch of achievements I think would be cool. Le Mot Juste: Win a battle by playing just one card. Without Pause: Win a battle without passing. Deadly Maneuvers: Win a battle with only playing (non-hybrid) Move cards. Fatal Flinch: Kill an enemy by using a non-attack card to trigger Jarring Block. Not My Fault: Win on opponent's turn. Purity Test: Win a battle using only single card items (Heartripper, Trog Skin Jacket, etc). Bloodless Victory: Win a battle without injuring any opponents. Pointless Victory: Win a battle without either player scoring any points.
There's also a stab some skeletons have that deals damage to the owner if it gets blocked, could also go with Fatal Flinch And I don't really get how Pointless Victory would work Only in MP when your opp dcs at start?
I would just like to say that I support some kind of mission or achievement with specific prizes. I see neat figures that MP players seem to get, (I don't know about this for sure. Just seeing them in videos) and would like an opportunity to earn a neat figure through SP somehow.
