Do you use 3 wiz, or 2 wiz and a priest?
I'm still looking for a staff with a good supply of punishing bolts.

So I was having a theory after seeing fairy lvl 17 appear quite frequently compared to other modules.

The fairy's module level has a correlation with the item level of every items in the game. This means the level of the fairy is weighted after the amount of items that can spawn at that level. This system ensure that given a long period of time, the dedicated Fairy Hunter will have an equal chance at getting items from every level range, rather than having too many duplicates of the same item (because the level range of that item has the smallest amount of different item)

To test this, I charted the Total Item by Level Distribution with the Fairy history data to compare.

    Fairy.png

The peak for Fairy level happened at 5, 10, 14 and 17. This matches the large amount of item at lvl 6, 9, 15 and 18. Fairy level are slightly lower than item level due to the fact that a module can drop items 2(or is it 1?) levels higher than the module's level.

My guess: A random level number is rolled and weighted by the total number of item in each level. (Item rarity could be considered, making epic/legendary items weight more) Then a set of modules that can easily drop items from that level range is selected. Then a random module in the set will be designated to be the fairy.

Anomaly: There should have been more lvl 18 and lvl 6 fairy. Hopefully it will even itself out in the long run and confirm my theory.

What's in it for us Fairy Hunter:
Focus on hunting the fairy at these level range first:
    • 5-6
    • 9-10
    • 14-15
    • 17-18.
Get at least 4 parties at these 4 level ranges ready and saved for farming these modules.

Could you check whether there is a tighter correlation with the number of modules at that level? It would explain the peak at 9, as well as at 18.

Ehhh...not sure how well that holds up. To me, it seems like the level 17 modules have peaked because...well, there were more of them. There are four level 17 modules, three level 14 modules, three level 9 modules, and three level 10 modules. The data shows that fairly accurately. I'd say the reason why the level 7, 8, and 18 modules haven't been picked as often is because they've only been part of the data set for approximately a third of the time the loot fairy has been around. And now that there are four level 9 modules, that bar is climbing up to the top.
