Not at all, I quite agree. I don't mind either if people exploit systems by multi-accounting or tanking rank by quitting or whatever else. As you say, who cares.

 

SO Iv'e been reading the latest comments, and although I can't speak for anyone else, I can speak for myself when I say Every game played on my account was played by me and no one else .

 

Week 5 stats

 

Quick aside, but for educational purposes, I feel obligated to point out that schizophrenia is not the same as dissociative identity (multiple personality) disorder.

Back on topic, I actually played 10 games this week, instead of my usual ~4! This season thing is sorta working.

 

Had 2 friends staying over for about 3 days so i slacked a lot..and this week is every day student's party... hum..hope i dont get to behind

 

You also gained about 50 rating points in the last week, so GJ on that front lol.

In related news, I messed up the stats this week. @jday was supposed to make the rating charts. The stats are now fixed. Sorry jday! And sorry @sir_percy for the false hope

EDIT: fixed again, thanks to @CT5 pointing out that @Mitsuaki is now a member of the fast-rising Pizza And Coffee guild!

 

Seems like 9-20 on the Highest Rating list have incorrect numbers for their average season rating.

 

Yeah, pretty sure you missed some stuff with Susuruss In Gloaming. Not sure how he could drop so far -- he got a lot more than 10 games this week and is currently at 1543. How could he average BELOW that?

 

Susurrus has (1666+1704+1715+1743+0) / 5 = 1366, all's correct.
If one doesn't make it into top 20 for a week, he gets 0 points for that week.

 

Oh, I guess I was confused on how it worked. Thought he just averaged the scores of the player even if they didn't make it in the top 20 for that specific week. Got it.

 

Oh, that is useful information. I wish I had known that before...

@Stexe, @Susurrus in Gloaming -- it is, as noted by Vholes in my latest blog post's comments, a pretty brutal cut-off. But it is what it is for this season, and I'm basically only 'looking at data' for the top 20 each week.

You mean the PvP season?
If you don't want me putting your name in any of the charts, for sure, just let me know, I guess.
But why?

 

If there are future seasons, I would like to see stats for something like a top 50 (or more --what's a reasonable number?), even if prizes are only awarded to the top 20. I was a little surprised to see myself ranking in the overall most wins after week 4 because I knew I hadn't played much during weeks 2 and 3. I figured that people who'd been playing regularly would have accumulated more wins over the month. If you consider that someone could score, say, 50 or 60 wins a week and literally earn zero points, that's an issue. I pulled a few long sessions in the past week with the AotA launch and free leagues, but really don't expect to play this much all the time.

 

i would suggest also some small prizes for the top players each week (1 or 2 chests for example), to keep things interesting

 

There will be future seasons, and I'll be looking for ways to improve upon this first formula. I appreciate your feedback.

The reason I'm looking at only the top 20 stats for each week, is really simple: I'm one guy, doing this for Blue Manchu and the game in my spare time for free. I hope that in the future I'll be able to work with BM to create/improve infrastructure that would make it easier to collect and use more data. We'll see how it goes.

What I don't like about this season is that it discourages players to try different kind of builds. They are induced to play with the stronger builds, which are always the same ones. I tried a 2 war 1 priest on week 2 to play something different to what I'm used to, and as it usually happens when you try new builds, I lost a lot of elo. Because of that I didn't make it to the top 20 that week, and I threw my chances for the whole season. So, it encourages more playing? Maybe, but at the cost of less variety, in my opinion.
Maybe with Tuknir suggestion this could be solved. If there was some (minor) prizes for week, someone can opt for not competing for the whole season because he would like to try different decks, but he still could have the chance to compete for a particular week with his regular (or any other) build.
Anyway, take it as a positive critic, Flax. I could never talk bad against someone that is constantly trying to improve the game with different suggestions and projects such as this one, and not only that, but he does that for free in his spare time
