Let's play Perfect Storm = casual MP with max WW/WWE!

Let's play Perfect Storm, casual multiplayer with the maximum amount of Whirlwind and Whirlwind Enemies on every character on both teams for maximum craziness! I finally got my 12th Rod of Winds from Randimar's today so I can now field a team like this.

    Perfect Storm rules:
    Team: 3x Wizard (any race)
Arcane Items: 12x Rod of Winds (2x Whirlwind Enemies, 1x Whirlwind)
Robe: 3x Tempest Robes or Witchy Robes (1x Whirlwind Enemies, 1x Whirlwind, 1x Resistant Hide)
All other items are up to you.

If anyone would like to play Perfect Storm, PM me or chat to me in the MP lobby or post here and we'll set up a match! It's okay if you don't have 12x Rod of Winds and 3x Tempest Robes yet, just pack as many as you can and let's see where the winds take us! If you do have the max loadout, I'm looking forward to a match with 54 Whirlwind Enemies and 30 Whirlwinds in play!

Perfect Storm motto: Too Much is Never Enough!

I didn't work out if the tokens would allow it, but if each wiz was required to carry two Mordecai's Staff Of Magma then you'd start to have real fun! Can we say Russian Lava Roulette?

As the staff requires two gold tokens, you can't use two in Perfect Storm. The Rods and the Robes require five blue tokens which leaves only three gold tokens to use for other stuff. You can use one magma staff, though.

That's ok, who's got six magma staffs lying around anyway?

A good point. Also, if you'd gotten freakishly lucky and did have six of them, would you rather be playing Perfect Storm or trolling people with an Eyjafjallajökullful of Volcanoes, anyway?

Would love to do this. Unfortunately I only have 1 Rod of Winds...

Huey, that's nothing a day or three of intensive farming of level 9 adventures couldn't cure :). Rod of Winds is a Rare item, which drop manageably often. On the other hand there are 39 different level 9 Rares so getting a stack of the Rods could still take a moment or two... but surely it's worth it to get to ride on this, the wildest of rollercoasters :)!

Funnily enough a few weeks earlier I had the exact idea of creating a pure WW wizards team just out of spite, because I hate those damn WWE teams so much. Now I'll try to see if I can make one.

Wish I had enough time and patient to farm a few Rod of Winds. Hopefully in a few days when real life gives me some free times xD

I made a whirls + walls + acid + encumber build (i.e. "all the dumb **** I can fit") way BITD before it was cool. I think it was during the beta, even. Matches regularly lasted 35+ minute, even though it usually lost.

    Suggestions:
    - call the format "tempest"
    - for those of us who don't have 12x Rod of Winds, Hurrican Stone should be acceptable too
    - for the true peasants, maybe just play where ever arcane item and robes needs to have a Whirlwind on it (not just WWE)

    Also, have a map:

Also also, I spent half an hour whining and making kitten eyes in the MP Lobby trying to get someone to play, but everyone just wanted to play ladder (*grrrr* SP rewards) or talk in the lobby (*grrrrrrrrrrr* chatty sorcererererererers).

Then I went and fried some kobolds and felt better. >_>

So that's what tempest was. I had no idea what you were talking about on the chat.

For the record, I have been farming level 6 adventures on and off for months and I have not gotten a single level 6 Gouging Helm. I *currently* have about 20 Emerald Shards and 5 Sharp Shell though.
--I suppose my odds of getting an item on maps where the treasure rate is 50% is lower than normal, but COME ON.

Let's have it both ways: Perfect Storm for when you have the max winds or close to it and Tempest as the "peasant" version for when you have just a gale storm, not the perfect confluence of clashing super storms that is Perfect Storm.

What are those brown thingies on the map, blocked terrain?

I'll play Tempest (and Perfect Storm) with you, when's a good time for you? I'm in Finland and can't currently play but I'll be free e.g. 15:30 - 17:30 UTC (current UTC, please adjust for your time zone).

Thinking about it more, using Hurricane Stone instead of Rod of Winds is problematic because it gives you too much control with its Improved Telekinesis card. In general, the less Whirlwinds and Whirlwind Enemies you have in your deck the closer you get to just playing a 3DC mirror match which isn't what Perfect Storm is about.

That said, I do realise the practical difficulties of collecting a full set of Rod of Winds (although Hurricane Stone is a Rare, too and a higher level one at that, level 15 vs. level 9). Probably the thing to do is to have an equal number of Hurricane Stones and Rods of Winds on both players if their inventories allow it to keep things on an equal footing *. I have seven copies of Hurricane Stone myself so can probably accommodate most opponent inventories.

    * Note that this does not extend to the other equipped items. Perfect Storm isn't meant to be an exact mirror match. The idea is to make your own build while observing the Arcane Item and Robe limitations and to see what happens.
