[Suggestion] Set a max number of rounds for MP

Every now and then we end up in a situation in MP where both players have only got 1 (non-mage) character alive. That means both players must have 4-5 victory points by now, often 5.
If it is a map with seperate victory squares like Lions or Dojo in current rotation, both players can just choose to sit on a victory square with their last character and just pass.
This will lead, eventually, to one player just winning by time. And all the remaining time, both players have to, if they want to try to win, pass and discard as fast as they can which is very dumb.

I played one such game today that lasted for 114 (!) rounds until my opponent had had enough and he surrendered. We still had both about 8-9 minutes left so this could have went on for 17 more minutes :S

My suggestion: Set a max round number, eg 50. If game goes past those 50 rounds without a winner, it would end in a draw.
Maybe someone can come up with a better solution, too.

Edit: Or more like in chess: if the game goes on for 50 rounds without a single character dying, the game would end in a draw.

Lets take something about the game Worms, when the time reached zero sudden death would start, where water would rise and worms would start drown, so maybe something similar..what about after 50 rounds, each alive char gets 4 unprevented dmg every round

Although then priests would have a clear advantage over warriors :p

didnt think about that.. still priests are so underpowered i guess it would end up balacing itself

I like the suggestions (both of them). I will also note that a game with this scenario (Dojo) actually was one of my favorites of all time. I had an elf priest basically at full health, he had a warrior with health below 10. But what made the game the most interesting was we both had Quick Run in our deck (I had already used it once to hit him down to 10 health). So we were both speed passing, not for time, but to draw that "perfect hand." He got it first - Quick Run, All Out Attack, and Obliterating Bludgeon . However, I was hiding my secret weapon, Lifesaving Block for the win! Lots of fun!

Only if the Priest has self-targeting heal cards in their deck.

The chess rule for stalemates is better. If the exact same state (which for CH would be character position + health) is reached 3 times, the game is a draw.

That's not good here. Maybe we are just waiting a hand to go in with.
Scarponi also described a situation where at least 1 player is still trying to win by the rules.

But in the game I had, neither of us wanted to do that, we simply played to win by time. I had a full HP priest with lots of healing and Nimbuses - got no damage myself but were unkillable.

i think the losing life every round would be a good solution, would make the lower char owner to try and finish the enemy off instead of just sitting iddle.
or make it that if game reachs turn 75? just end's and declare the winner the guy with must points, if its a draw then go for the life total

What if also the life total is the same :)?

then i dont know :p imo declaring a draw should be out of the question: how it would be with elo and chests??

    How about this:

    Edited: thanks, Squidy.

    1. After 50 rounds of no characters dying the player with more victory points will win.
    2. If they both have them equally then the player with higher combined HP % left will win.
    3. If this is also true (shouldn't happen that often), then a die roll will determine the winner :)

I'd amend #2 to be: If they both have them equally then the player with the highest HP percentage left will win.

It'd just seem silly if a dwarf priest that had healed himself up to full beat a human priest who had done the same just because he was a dwarf.

There is something that can also be a solution to card cycling. When a character has drawn all the cards in his deck, when time to reshuffle comes he lose half of his starting hp. Of course if this is applied cards like pathfinding will have to reshuffle the non drawed cards.

After so long (if possible) stop counting the VPs, notify the players by pop-up, and have them fight to the death.

VPs could have a 10-turn timer (or some other N), after which they vanish and you have to fight to death.

Can the tiles be changed during the game? If they can, great! If not, it might be possible to move the characters off the victory squares and lay down 'permanent' blocking terrain attachments. Or perhaps an attachment that initially allows the player to choose the direction of egress, and afterward become unenterable.
I'm really unsure of the possibilities, but there has to be some method that will work.

Yesterday I had 1 warrior left against my opponent's 1 priest, both at almost full HP.
Map was Gladius Quad so the victory squares were not too close to each other.
He had been playing very slowly so I had more time. I didn't even try to kill him, just passed and eventually won by time.
I got many insults from him for using such tactics but well, I think I did what I had to do: played as well as I could in the given situation.
Also I had 5 victory points against his 4 and about 5 more HP so I didn't see any legit reasons behind his claim that I should surrender.

Anyway I hope this problem will get a solution.

Good job, LF! He actually insulted you and tried to talk you into surrender? LOLOLOLOL. I guess he was doing his best too, even if it was lame.
