Howdy! This is my current build, currently 5/3. It's a mobile vampire team that focuses on coming out of nowhere to isolate and remove a vulnerable unit. I'm looking for any advice you would be kind enough to give me. The two Elves are my vampires. I feel like they are pretty solid, but there is a bit of flexibility in the build. The Incense of Roiled Air could be switched out for something different, though the Inspiration is usually very handy. I could also switch out the Lifesuck Spear for something like a Draining Dagger to free up a gold token. I'm also considering switching Escapist for Superb Footwork. The two self replacing cards on Escapist are excellent, but there is something to be said for a Quick Run followed by a handful of cantrip drains. The unit that needs the most work is Mother Superior. Right now she's somewhere between an attacker and a support unit. She moves the team around and is stacked with Team Heals (which helps her draw cards off of Altruism). There's not much that I'm not willing to change about her, so go crazy with suggestions if you have them. In addition to the Godtouched Spear, I also have a Nimbus Blade and Whiteglow Flail available, as well as the Glinting Eye Hammer. Yes, but I'd caution that for every card you add, you're that much less likely to have a handful of drains! Something to consider. My vampire did a lot better when I cut as many cards as possible and just focused on having as many attacks and Talented Healer triggers as possible. Cantrip moves are cool, but they also dilute your draws. I would put as many Mass Frenzy and Martyr's Blessing as possible on Mother Superior, and then cut as many of those support cards as possible from your other priests. They should each be running 3x Wuuna's Vampiric Shroud / Flax's Thirsty Vial, unless you feel the need to throw in a Shielding Token here or there. Unfortunately, making Mother Superior better is somewhat dependent on drops. You want Olf's Fiery Pike and Bleneth's Frenzy Skull. Tome of the Martyr isn't rare, though, so consider throwing one or two of those onto your team for deck thinning and a very powerful buff that works both on the offensive and on the defensive. Still, well done with the team. I look forward to seeing how far it takes you. Another Sorcererer, brinkmanship, was playing with three priests at some point. It's always refreshing to see our members take on the task!
p.s. If you go more support-y on Mother Superior, you won't need Slippery Shield or the Spear that badly, and you can use the major tokens to upgrade your racial skill to Perfect Command. Also, consider making your vampires humans (either of them or both) and seeing how that goes. Novice Command is a fantastic tokenless skill that will give your team more mobility. I'm not sure it'll be better but it might be worth trying.
Thanks for the ideas, both here and in chat. Here is the updated and as yet untested Mother Superior: Mother Superior Level 19 Human Priest Whiteglow Flail Quickmind Spear Mail Of The Martyr Buckler Of Protection Goat Boots Incense Of Roiled Air Shuddering Relic Shuddering Relic Trained Command Novice Piety 1 x Walk 1 x Minor Heal 1 x Walk, Team! 2 x Vulnerable 3 x Mass Frenzy 1 x Impenetrable Nimbus 2 x Bungled Heal 2 x Enervating Touch 1 x Dash, Team! 1 x Lifesaving Block 2 x Inspiration 1 x Horned Plates 1 x Dangerous Maneuver 1 x Defender's Block 2 x Altruism 1 x Weakened Armor 1 x Boosted Heal 1 x Potent Stab 1 x Barge 1 x Puncturing Stab 1 x Immovable 2 x Accelerated Thought 1 x Jarring Block 2 x Nimble Strike 3 x Martyr Blessing
I'd replace Trained Command with Novice Command and a Shuddering Relic with Incense Of Roiled Air. Ideally you want your shuddering relics on your vampires and your incenses on your support. This setup will give you higher drain density on your vampires. Or unless you don't have 6 copies of an epic
Dunno if you're still using this build, but I would advise switching the Quickmind Spear, for two reasons. 1. Bungled Heal is rather clunky. 2. More importantly, Accelerated Thought is an attachment! I'm guessing that's the main reason you're running Quickmind Spear, but priests are very attachment focused - you might push off one of your own attachments/make it easier for the enemy to push off an attachment by playing Accelerated Thought. Your vampires, for example, really want Slippery, Talented Healer, and Mass Frenzy (you'll ideally have 2 of those three on at any given point). You also have Martyr's Blessing, another amazing attachment (and it might actually give you more cards than Accelerated Thought). I don't feel like there's enough upside to it, especially not for the two tokens. You only really want three of those cards: Potent Stab and the two Accelerated Thoughts, and I'm not sure you want the Accelerated Thoughts, either. As for what weapon to replace it with... you're on your own for that one >_>
Flax is right about Accelerated Thought not triggering Altruism. Actually, any hybrid buff/attack cards won't trigger Altruism (Unholy Frenzy, Unholy Wellspring, Savage Curse), nor will Soothing Darkness or Demonic Feedback. I'm interested in how this build works for you.
Not entirely true on the hybrid front: both Bad Medicine and Misguided Heal are Holy and do trigger Altruism—the things you learn playing healers in peasant
You used the "item" tags, not "card", the links don't work. Here are the fixed versions: (Unholy Frenzy, Unholy Wellspring, Savage Curse), nor will Soothing Darkness or Demonic Feedback Also, what you're basically saying is "Unholy" cards don't trigger "Altruism" (which only triggers on playing "Holy" cards) .
Yeah CT, I dropped the Quickmind pretty quickly heh. I really DON'T want any more attachments. I've actually just done a re-build and switched over to an all-human party for a bit to see how that works out. Only tested it once so far, but it beat Cardotron pretty handily, so that's a decent sign. I picked up another pair of Salazar's Sandels recently, I'm going to see how they work out in lieu of the Sticky Slippers. Immovable is GREAT, but it is another attachment in a deck that is very dependent on them already, and I'm hoping that the added mobility works out at least as well as the Immobility. I'm in the low 1400's now, and I'll be doing some more tests when I get home from work in about eleven hours. Wish me luck!
So I considered this build was pretty much retired until I got one of the epic/legendary Frenzy items. Then I picked up a Madman's Maul of all things. Seeing if I can work it in.
I used a priest with Madman's Maul for a while. Violent Overswing: not bad! Raging Strike: You had better hide until you can get rid of it. The Maul does do a crapton of damage, and it's useful in SP and various other situations. If you take priority often (IE pass first/use Flanking Move then pass first ) then you can often hit people with the Raging Strike before anything bad happens. On the other hand, if you are in the middle of nowhere and a wizard tags you with a Frost Jolt... then you are screwed. It's safer to use St. Olf's Fiery Pike if you have it.
