2 or 3 of them were while I was selling mass quantities of excess items to The Goblin Bazaar(~670g worth), the one while selling treasures. The others were when I was in the lobby, two being right after I logged in. In none of these instances did the reconnect function work.
There are two levels of reconnecting: Trying to re-establish a connection to the server that's been dropped. That's handled by our licensed engine and doesn't seem to work very well, if at all. Battle reconnection, which is our code. Nothing we've done lately should affect (1), unfortunately. What you are describing sounds most likely to be something going wrong with your internet connection or connectivity to our server. However, if we start seeing lots of other reports of similar issues then maybe it something on our end. Has anyone else been seeing increased disconnection patterns recently? Sorry, that's not much help.
Annnnd that'll now make the count an impressive 11 times today, something's gone a bit rubbish, hasn't it!?!?! *glaring at his less-than-a-year-old TWC-provided Arris router* Honest question: Anything suggestions as to things I ought to make sure my ISP tests for when assessing my connections for problems? (TWC's help line is sometimes a bit obtuse to the point of uselessness anymore.) I've been hearing mentions of folks dc'ing mid-battle a lot in the lobby chat, over the past two or three days, but no, I've not heard anyone complaining of dcing in the lobby, nor of anyone else dcing while sitting in the lobby, either idle or while chatting, or in the store. Though... actually, Jon, thank you, you just jogged ym memory with the "lately" comment! Now that I think of it, I remember running into something like this during a recent test server build ( I don't remember exactly when, but it was during the map cycle before the Celestial maps were reintroduced on the test server, let alone the main, hope that helps you narrow the build down). Like an idiot, I didn't report it. I found that the game would, reliably, either crash or DC (I don't recall which) If I sold buckets and buckets and buckets of items, all in one go, just REALLY piling em on. I found a slight-ish work around to prevent a GUARANTEED dc or crash by, every so often, clicking the shop's reset button. However, while those items were in the shop, the game was always a bit unstable until the shop's daily reset. I dunno if this is something that's still a problem, and might be causing this, or just what, but I *did* unload about 3 weeks worth of excess equip. *pets his shiny new Vinorkin's* No I didn't. This is another honest question, as my technical knowledge is, to be kind, lacking in the extreme: how might I have done so, and is there some tool that one might use to collect such a log?
I believe that issue has been reported before (though I can't find the thread ATM), and generally falls under the umbrella of "equipment display needs lots of optimization". I always hit the shop "reset" button every ~30 items, lest I see exponentially-increasing input delays until Flash finally freezes completely around 100 items visible. Where your particular limit is will depend entirely on your machine configuration.
Would that also encompass items which you've sold that the game is having to keep track of for buyback purposes? And would that do anything to explain the instability I mentioned experiencing after selling truckloads of items?
Thanks guys, I hadn't tried the reset button. I've just been reloading CH whenever the shop slows down.
Happy to have helped, even if it was unintentionally... but, no seriously... How would I have collected that data/can I collect such data in the future?
Press F1 twice and write clip in the console when an error has occurred (if the game hasn't crashed). This copies the whole debug log into the clipboard and you can then paste it into a file and attach that file to a forum post. The debug log helps the devs find out what is happening.
