What is the shortest method to get most gold pieces (gp)

I ended up clipping, parsing, and pasting before leaving each adventure to help preserve data integrity. Once I got into a rhythm it took about 5-10 seconds per update.
My crashes usually occur when I select "Return To Map", but I lost a few drops due to lockups on the Collect Loot page after the treasure dropped. I also lost some because I forgot to turn 'verbose' back on after a crash. I sometimes ran into a problem in chrome where the data could be highlighted, but could not be copied to the clipboard. Ctrl-c still worked in other programs when this happened.
My old 32-bit vista laptop is not a prime test-bed for this, and I expect (hope?) newer and more robust machines will perform better. I haven't tried a lengthy run in FF, so I'll probably give that a shot.
I look forward to seeing the excel spreadsheet in action!

Ok, thanks for the blow-by-blow! Sounds like a bit of a bother. I'm even more thankful for your diligent data collecting after hearing the pains you've needed to take.

Might I suggest another way? The new "reverse merge" option of Neoncat's item data xref tool makes it easy to
    1) export your inventory before a grinding session
    2) export it again after the session
    3) copy the two count columns side-by-side and add a simple subtraction column
    4) filter the new column for values > 0
VoilĂ ! A sum total of the run, works even when you got some item you never had before (because the "reverse merge" export already has a line for each possible item).

Best of all, you can keep the verbose mode off during the run to not fill the meagre Flash memory allocation with the ballooning log and avoid the related crashes (grey exclamation mark within a circle).

The only thing to watch out for is to not fight any other battles during the session than the ones you want to include in the data, as there's no way to filter them out based on the full inventory exports alone.

All in all, I think this method is a lot more robust and trouble-free than using the catch-them-as-they-drop-verbose-log way.

This sounds like the option I was hoping for! :) I really don't do spreadsheets, but this sounds pretty easy to figure out.
I just did 3 runs of 1-4 on Garnet Demon Portal, and the log was 146,920 lines long. This could soon get to be a problem, I suppose.

Here's your data, newly formatted with the new Excel tool. I'll post the tool once I've tested it with another batch of loot data.

Time to format the data with the Excel and Neoncat's CH item xref tools starting from the raw data: 10 minutes. That's the advantage of automated tools.

Here's the Excel workbook I use to format the loot drop data.

    Instructions:
    1) before starting to grind for loot, export your inventory with Neoncat's Inventory Export tool
    2) transform its output with Neoncat's Item Data Xref Tool (with the "reverse merge" option checked).
    3) paste the transformed data into the "Before" tab of the Excel tool
    4) after grinding is finished for the day, repeat steps 1-3 but this time paste the data into the After tab
    5) see the results on the "Formatted Data" tab.
    Enjoy!

I've just updated my notes here. Some of that data was available earlier at that link, and also here.
Format key: Red text is club reward, Bold is guaranteed drop or quest-rare, Yellow highlight is first time (per account), Italics is from beta.

I just realised I can spare you that chore. I'll add new pages (tabs, worksheets, whatever) to the Excel tool for the Before and After full inventories and calculate the difference with the tool. That way you only need to paste the Xref transformed Before and After inventories on their pages and the tool will take care of the rest. I'll add that feature when I get the chance.

If I click to another adventure after the 1st battle somewhere else and then choose the "no" option (can't remember the wording, but was not "cancel"), my party won't start moving there. What am I missing?

This is my first attempt with CH Loot Drop Data Format Tool.v2. It wouldn't run in my ancient copy of excel, but works in OpenOffice4 (which is free, and therefore acceptable - even if it is a bit wonky). Let me know if this works okay.

Thanks for the data, Veza! It works fine. Does it come from one or more level 5 adventures?

Which version of Excel do you have? I don't think I use any advanced features in the tool. I might easily be able to save it as an old Excel version and streamline the process for you. Did you have any other problems using the tool? Was using it an improvement over earlier data logging methods?
