I often wonder if the builds I am using are even any good. Here is the level 13 party I am taking through the single player campaign at the moment and generally struggling. The lack of consistency is due to just plain old not having duplicates of items. This is all from memory but it should be fairly close. ELF WARRIOR Acrobat's Blade X2 Oversized Pick Sturdy Armor Shimmering Helm Dueler's Buckler Novice Chopping (just for bigger damage cards and to not use up a power token) Escapist ELF CLERIC Big Stick Blessed Club Dark Chain Shirt Simple Wooden Shield Focused Piety Escapist Shielding Token Incense Of The Nether Fog Acolyte's Healing Ring ELF WIZARD Furnace Staff Lesser Furnace Staff Firehide Robes Focused Burning Advanced Footwork Burning Bangle Orb Of Flames Wand Of Hot Winds Wand Of Rapid Air
Firestorm is better for dwarves than elves (my elves use it, but I'm crazy). Raging Strike is another bad card for elves.
I would ditch the Simple Wooden Shield in an instant. Also, the Oversized Pick is pretty dangerous but you can probably get away with it in SP; it actually does have good damage on it. The Acrobat's Blades are kind of bad. I mean, Burnished Blade and Puncturing Dagger are flexible but not as damaging; try and get a Surging Battleaxe, Infused Greatclub and/or Rageblood Dagger if you can. Once you get into the level 14-17 adventures, your party should be very adventure-specific. After all, you have to deal with stuff like Only Bones, Solid Wood, Tough Bark, and Amorphous Body, along with hordes of Zombies and some with Resistant Hide. Overall your party is just OK. Your wizard is pretty meh with those Sizzling Bolts... although I don't really know what to recommend instead until you get to level 15 and get some major tokens.
I don't have any of those weapons you mentioned...I might have just bought a Rageblood dagger, but I'll have to check. What shield would you suggest to replace the Wooden one? Acrobat's Blade is the only weapon I have that does more than 8 damage and has manageabledrawbacks.
You might try completing a few quests again, just to get some more free loot. Something good might drop which opens up new build possibilities. Also, you can level your team up to two levels beyond the present quest level, which leaves you with a little extra HP padding.
Good luck with the elves. Mine never did well until I got some really good equipment. Come to think of it, they still don't do as well as humans or dwarves on most maps. (Maybe I'm just not good at elves.)
the elves are great in the missions early on, but I'm finding them less awesome as i get to higher levels. My first party was 2 humans (F and C) and 1 elf wizard. I had problems with that lineup too
I made it through the campaign my first time through (after beta reset) using 3 dwarf wizards, without significant trouble. If you're really stuck, perhaps a complete change of party will help you get unstuck / net some loot as you level up?
i actually created an all dwarf party last night and started over at level 1. with higher level items it's been easy to farm for some more gear and hopefully I can just reboot.
SP is easiest overall with a mix of humans/dwarves (preferably dwarves) because there is little advantage to mobility, and lots of advantages for more hp and the ability to draw more cards. Also, I don't think you need a warrior at any point, unless you just enjoy them, and its easier to use 2 priests and a wizard (preferably with firestorm).
Fair enough...I do like the chance to try out warrior EQ i pick up, but that makes me sad that warriors arent very good
They are very good in multiplayer, but you can manage without them in single player. I played through the single player campaign my first time out with warrior + priest + wizard without ever changing the lineup.
I was on that route, but started farming and playing with other builds at 14th level. I think a 1/1/1 is good to use to learn the game in order to get a feel for each class.
