Is there a way purchase level 18 characters? I want to try some different race/class combinations for bonus challenges in the campaign, but I'm not going to spend time leveling them up. It seems rather negligent to leave out such an option.
Bah, you pay-to-win folks... unless you have taken a SP character through the campaign lvl-by-lvl, you won't know how each character-race type actually plays! But seriously, you know that your SP character-lvls are auto-restricted to "module-lvl +2", right? You can buy MP party packs and use their items for SP characters if you just want to farm lower-lvl modules with higher-lvl equipment, but lvl-restrictions still apply for SP modules... so too bad for you? 8^P
This could be a good way for the devs to make so extra cash. They could sell lvl 18 characters but for pizza, not gold. It would be great because it doesn't give you any MP advantage. Then again it might make more sense to sell lvl 20 characters that we may or may not get after the "big patch".
But seriously, you do know that when you attempt bonus quest challenges, your level 18 characters have all of their gear slots unlocked despite their levels being auto-restricted to the module, right? Having level 18 characters is advantageous. There is a legitimate reason why I posed the question in the first place.
All item slots are unlocked by level 8, and level 10 characters are available. 4th level dwarf wizards are very popular for quests due to their limited slots and quick card rotation. I always buy 1st levels because I enjoy leveling characters up, but I guess not everyone does. This is the first time I've heard the subject raised. It's definitely something for the devs to consider.
Unfortunately, it still doesn't solve the issue of not having access to new level 18 characters for higher level quest challenges.
I think he's referring to the quest challenges like "Complete with three dwarf wizards" and such. I've leveled up one set of each three races, all to 18 or above, with a warrior, fighter, and wizard. I can definitely see the appeal of being able to buy two more of each class to do some of these challenges, because leveling up another six sets just so that I have every available combination of characters is a major hassle. Being able to purchase them after completing the main campaign would be nice.
That makes sense to me. Completing the campaign brings Miller Time, and you might as well enjoy it in a new tavern.
See guys, told you he was pay-to-win-- what's next, paying for 1600 rating in Mulitplayer? 8^S Sorry to be rubbing this in-- but your character levels are "soul-bound" (to use a Hearthstone-term) in the Campaign because those are basically their Elo-ratings in Single-Player... and even in Multiplayer, you should be prepared to let your Elo-rating take a hit if/when you start trying out new/weird builds. I mean, if it is taking you that much time to "rush"/level a new character through the campaign (say, over a weekend), then maybe you're not really familiar enough with the campaign (or don't have all the items/builds you need for doing "rushes"/quests)? Err, I think you mean 6 characters-- not "sets"-- aka just TWO parties? IOW, you only need to play through the campaign with 3 times (with 3 completely "distinct/different" parties) to have high level characters of every variation (there are only 9 so far)... Wow, I guess I didn't realize there are some "perfect" players who simply run-through the Campaign on their first go with exactly the same party they started with (and immediately gets bored with the Campaign modules?)-- cos I've got all 9 characters at various levels while I was pottering around in Single-Player trying out various builds/combos-- I mean, I thought all the "min-maxers" would be playing Multiplayer, 8^P....
Forestal, there's no need to be so judgmental. Different people find different things fun. You sound like a player who enjoys having a sandbox of possibilities, exploring it and experimenting with the systems. For players like this replaying the campaign with different groups comes naturally. Many players are more goal-oriented. For them the fun is in completing the explicitly stated quests and missions of the game. Any time spent outside this is mere mandatory grinding spent solely in pursuit of resources needed for the primary goal, defeating the content. For players like this it would be more enjoyable to get the appropriate characters needed for the end-game quests with as little fuss and muss as possible. Leveling up more characters would be work for them, not that much fun. Different strokes for different folks. It's no sin to ask for an inn with level 18 characters. The developers would do well to provide a solution for this type of player, too. Let people enjoy what they enjoy. It should be no skin off anyone else's nose.
I really don't get this pay-to-win argument when talking about PvE characters. What are you actually paying to win? Gary? Who cares what someone does in PvE. Being able to buy high level characters without having to do the tedious task of levelling up each race/class combination is great for players and there is no downside to it, especially nothing that could be seen as "pay-to-win". If you want to talk about real pay-to-win, we currently have the option to buy purple chests with real life money. That is pay-to-win.
Forestal, relax - people play the game differently - I'll second Jarmo's excellent response in that. Some people don't want to grind x amount of characters just to be able to complete the quests. Not sure why they shouldn't be able to buy new lvl 18 characters, for a pretty steep gold sum however (say 500-1000?), if they've already beaten the campaign once. Adding a tavern at the current end of the sp game wouldn't hurt and I don't see the pay to win argument coming in affect here (just less work and less sense of having ahieved something). SLG suggested selling lvl 20's for pizza, another option that makes sense. The characters would still be downgraded to use in the sp campaign, as current lvl 20 characters. I'll move this topic to suggestions considering the turn it's taken.
There are a few adventures with objectives such as "Use only Dwarf Priests", "Use only Human Warriors", and "Use only Elf Wizards". This means, if you were like me and leveled up a fighter, wizard, and warrior of each race for a balanced team, I'd still need to go back and level up two more of each. Elf: Priest, Wizard, Warrior Human: Priest, Wizard, Warrior Dwarf: Priest, Wizard, Warrior I'd still need to level up two more Elf Wizards, two more Human Warriors, and two more Dwarf Priests. That's at least another three runs of a campaign I've already beaten thrice. It's gotten just a touch tedious, is what I'm trying to say. Sure, it gets me more loot, but my guys are pretty decked out in good stuff already. And just being able to buy a level 18 character after completing the campaign once wouldn't hurt anything.
I've said nothing about multiplayer. How I spend my time and money are my prerogative, particularly when it comes to the single player element, particularly when the devs have built pay mechanics into the game. That is, after all, how they fund this whole enterprise that you appear to be milking. Why are you so butthurt?
