Hello again I have been watching the "WTF is Card Hunter" gameplay over and over. There are some things that confused me a little bit. I may not be using the correct game terms so please bear with me 1. Is it true that you always draw one move-card per character every turn, and that this card becomes revealed in the process? Is it possible to draw more than one standard move-card per turn? And if so, will these cards remain hidden? (reason i am asking is that Greenfang keep playing move-cards that are not revealed) 2. Also i notice that when you draw move-cards like "Charge" and "Team Shift" it seems they come from a different pool than standard move-cards. Could the dwarf warrior draw "Charge" instead of the standard "Walk" move-card? 3. When i mentioned that some of the move-cards seem to come from a different pool i had a question in mind. Will "Maze of the Mind" trigger when using "Team Shift" and "Charge" as the game is now?
1a. Yes, though I don't quite remember that part where it says it's revealed. 1b. Yes, provided these cards are in your pool granted from the items you have equipped and aren't revealed until you play them/they are revealed through gameplay. Boots grant move cards, as well as some weapons and traits. 2. You could draw a "Charge" as well as a standard move, but that would be one (charge) from your card pool and one (walk) from your free move card per turn. So no "instead of", no. 3. Most likely, but a Dev/more experienced player could probably confirm that.
I can answer some of that. 1 and 2. Each character has one deck, and this deck may contain any of a variety of cards, including movement. These cards are not automatically revealed. However, you ALSO receive one default movement card. This default card is always the same (for a particular race), so everyone knows "oh, you're a dwarf, ONE of your cards must be Walk." Because everyone knows it, THIS ONE CARD is always revealed, and not any others even if they happen to be identical. 3. Dunno. Sounds likely, though.
Thank you so much both of you for clarifying. So you are "given" a basic movement card based on your "race" at the start of every turn, and this card is revealed. The movement cards from your items equipped is part of the normal deck, so you could in theory draw 4+1 movement cards in one turn and be like all over the place
. . . And so we demonstrate our species tendency as members of "forumitia" to pounce in a coordinated fashion on the unwary "questionitus." As though planned, we strike in rapid succession, bringing down our prey through sheer redundancy. Anyway, yes. And, as has been mentioned a number of times, the fact that you might instead draw NO movement cards is the reason the default move exists. Which makes me wonder about the merit of adding a "default attack" card. Hmm. Probably not as important as movement.
*A wild Questionitus appears* I am very much in favor of the default move card. I just wanted to make sure i understood the explanation, given by above predators. I discovered the game yesterday, so i have not yet browsed entire forum/site. This game is going to be the best ever, and by ever i mean EVER! A combination of every genre i love.. Omagawd
When we first designed the game, there was no default move card and, as a result, you could end up drawing no move cards if you got unlucky. Although this is "fair" in some sense, i.e. you should make sure that you put enough move cards in your deck, it just wasn't a lot of fun. I think of it as a bit like getting mana screwed in Magic - it makes sense, but it isn't very interesting for you or your opponent. That's when we decided to add the default move card concept to ensure that you always can make some movement and try to position yourself to use the rest of you cards, be they attacks or assists or whatever. Note that it's still possible to be "move flooded" when you draw nothing but move cards in addition to your default. This isn't the end othe world though as you can generally use the moves to dance around, staying out of range of enemies and positioning yourself for the next round. I think you'll see the more competitive multi-player decks taking a lot of movement cards beyond the defaults.
