DLC pack came out yesterday which fixed quite a few bugs and added a few things. Need to start a fresh game though.

The Eador: Genesis turn based strategy game is released on gog.com, which i played quite alot some years ago. Now the 3D remake is being developed but if you can enjoy a strategy game without unit animations and stuff you can check this one. http://www.gog.com/gamecard/eador_genesis

I just jumped into EUO, its an old school small MMO thats pretty hardcore http://euotopia.com/index.php several races, skill based class system. Its still got an active community, i've played it off and on in the past never getting too far, everytime i come back i gotta start all over because wow its got a learning curve. I just started a Dwarf Priest if anyone would like to join me

I've been playing Planetside 2. I suck at it (KDR is .6 something...) but it is very fun. I normally hate FPS games but Planetside is different. I think I enjoy it because of all the customization and the insanely huge maps.

PS2 is not a game that should have KDs, if you want to improve it just camp vehicles all day and you'll feel super good about yourself, at least until they add anti air

Good point DarkDain. I agree KDR is ultimately unimportant but my statement remains true: I'm not very good at the game. I've watched videos (pre-recorded and live) of players far better than I am. This is likely due to the fact that I am inexperienced with FPS games but regardless I find their level of skill impressive.

In PS2 I'm happy if I can keep a 1 kill to 1 death ratio in any game session and overjoyed when I can take out multiple opponents (once I logged out because I was having a good kill streak and I didn't want to spoil it). Which is an odd statement if you think about it... normally people who suck at FPS games simply avoid them but something about PS2 is appealing to me. I can't quite define what that is but I encourage people who otherwise avoid FPSes to give PS2 a shot, it is free to play so there is nothing to lose.

I just picked up Faster Than Light (FTL) on a Steam sale for $6. Easily worth twice that. If you have any interest in rougelikes or being a space captain you'd enjoy this game.

Also, statements about FTL's impossible difficulty level are pretty overblown. The "easy" setting can be managed by pretty much anyone after figuring out the game a little.

Try engineer or medic, they get pretty good exp just doing support, especially Engineer who gets exp for refitting ammo and always has a vehicle to repair (that they can also hide behind) and if you get popped its no biggy. Playing as a HA and dying in a straight up shoot out with any other class just kind of sucks since you have a shield and still lose, RAAAAAAAGE.

Yep, my primary class in PS2 is engineer. I have the underbarrel grenade launcher, sticky grenades, and prox mines... which is how I get most of my kills. Occasionally people PM me in game upset about my using proximity mines but the way I see it they're completely avoidable if you watch where you're walking.

Yeah, I paid full price for FTL when it was new-ish. Love the game, totally worth what I paid for it. The game is difficult in the sense that what you get is random... some game sessions will just be unlucky in the sense that you might not run across good weapons etc. But on average it isn't so bad once you learn what to do.

Although one thing in FTL is practically impossible... getting that damned secret ship. The random nature of the game means you have to be very lucky to get even the opportunity to aquire it. I've come close twice but still don't have it.

I dont think i've ever seen a proxy mine, more people be whining about the AT mines that can 2 shot a sundy or HT if you drop them ontop, its hilarious, i wonder if they work on liberators hehe.
I'm still playing EUO, trying my hand at the permadeath server, so far so good for my brave dwarf warrior.

Actually mines are all bugged at the moment and are not viewable from the opposing factions view point. I'm pretty sure soe hasn't said it was intentional, but if it was they are broken that way.

Whether they are visible or not doesnt matter when it just an engineer dropping them ONTOP of your vehicle :p now if the engineer were invisible that'd be something. Holy ****, someone needs to jump out of an ESF, land on a lib, and plant anti-tank mines on it. PLEASE OH GOD SOMEONE PLEASE DO THIS

Two great games came out yesterday. One is the iOS implementation of the card game Fluxx, which is a true joy to play. It's one of geekdom's classic "filler" games. The other is the open beta of the PC mech sim Hawken. Even if you assume it won't run on your machine, you should still check it out. I have a laptop with an integrated graphic card, and it still runs pretty smoothly and looks pretty awesome.

  15. Szczypior

    Szczypior Orc Soldier

I got FTL yesterday at about 8pm.. I thaught this game is like 'meh'.. But then I realised it's already past 4am and I need to take some sleep :D So addictive! I hope Card Hunter will be same too!

I just re-installed BG1/BG2, that should probably be enough time to kill before the beta comes out, unless something drastic happens.

  17. Kaerius

    Kaerius Orc Soldier

Getting a bit tired of FO:NV, didn't find Planetside 2 to be very good... Just installed Hawken, not so impressed yet but I'll give it time...
On the other hand I have also installed geneforge 1-5 which could definitely give me lots of playtime. Heck I got a bunch of games... but none with the appeal of card hunters. Maybe I'll check in on Nexus and see what mods are available for XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Dungeons of Dredmore :D! The retro mmo im playing reminds me of that since im doing perma death, hardcore mode!! Also, geneforge i kind of liked, i remember when the demo's came out and thats all i got to play unfortunately. I never finished Avadon, it was pretty long though.

I've got all those too(and Avernum 4,5,6+escape from the pit). In fact dungeons of dredmor gave me a few months of gameplay and I contributed several mods for it(my avatar is from one of them, released on steam workshop!) And many more games I haven't played yet... even Witcher 2(I tried it a bit but it starts off pretty bad, I was getting massively frustrated at failing to loot things that the loot highlight function lit up!)

I really only liked the classic exile series, didnt much care for the gameplay changes that came with the graphics overhaul, but i liked nethergate. I think i only played DoD a few days before some weird bug caused me to beat the game on accident. I've been looking at steam greenlight for some future retro rpg's i'd like to see, like Delver !
