I want to see Karen's custom adventure. Also, I think the monsters in homemade adventures should have hand-drawn figures taped onto standard figures.

I'm a big fan of 3-way battles. Getting stuck in the middle of two large armies trying to crush each other can be really thrilling, especially when it's advantageous to let them hit each other, but I'm also trying to prevent either enemy force from coming out the victor.
I remember playing a mission in a turn-based tactics game once where the entire point was to not kill the two forces, but to prevent them from doing harm to one another for a certain duration, for political reasons. This meant that you could pound the scrubs down, but the big named NPC characters on the enemy side needed to remain alive by the end of the timer for the story to have it's happy end... so imagine being stuck in the middle of the Capulets and Montagues duking it out, and your task is to stack heals and area denial to prevent the death of Romeo and Juliet's family, until the police arrive and everyone is forced to stand down and talk it out. There would be something funny about a battle where my best card choices would be heals, stuns, and pushes, but actually killing anyone meant defeat. I'd be forced to totally rethink all my favorite strategies.
I'm also fond of NPC allies. I'm not sure what kind of AI issues this would generate because it might be really frustrating to experience, but I don't see why Gary hasn't indulged himself a little and decided to play a party member of his own, yet. Naturally, I wouldn't want him playing something too squishy that I'd always feel annoyed that I had to protect him, and I wouldn't want him playing something that's so powerful that I didn't feel like the story was really about me anymore, but RPGs like these are full of minor NPC allies like what I'm suggesting, or even retainers and summons, and I'm not seeing anything like that in the game yet. When I did Rescue From Shieldhaven Prison, I had fully expected for the last mission that Gary would be playing the role of the the Baron's daughter, complete with her own little figurine and Gary trying vainly to do her voice. Likewise, in The Defense of Woodhome, the last battle would have been more interesting if instead of just sitting on a victory point, I actually had to protect peasants as they fled the map towards the exit.

Something I think would be fun would be a prison corridor. You are at the end of a long hallway, the sides are lined with prison cells. Get too close to a cell and the prisoner in it might attack you, or maybe he will help you with a heal or a buff.

One of my ideas for the custom game contest was an assassination; you had to kill Lord Batford, but killing any of his servants would cause you to lose. Unfortunately the game mechanics didn't allow this; I couldn't set VP goals to 0 and when chars die the game only checks the VP goal of the player who gets the points, never the player who owned the dead char.

    Branching Path modules.

Have enemies worth no stars, and a pair of big doors that you have to hammer through to get to one of two victory points. Which one you are standing on determines which next module you take.

Alternatively, victory squares in addition to enemies you fight, and whichever source gives you the most points determines the next module.

As much as people hate them: Escort Missions. Give us 1 extra guy, with cards that are useful for preference. We aren't worth stars, HE is worth stars. There is a scattered set of victory points which only score if HE is standing on one at the end of turn. We try to win.

The Black Knight: Map is a large 1 lane bridge with a single enemy on it, no way to flank him. He has a Reliable Missile Reflect (roll: 1, Keep), and his attacks are almost all range 2 (line as well maybe?).

Yep. I want co-op more than anything - or, more precisely, I want a way to get the MP rewards without the stress of PvP. (Though playing through the existing adventures cooperatively would also be a lot of fun I think.)

Specifically regarding the adventures: the fact that my characters are level twenty but I can only play with them at their full level in one adventure is a little frustrating. Takes something away from getting my characters to that point in the first place. The up side is that that adventure is fairly short, which makes grinding it more fun. I'm not sure what a solution to that would be, more top-level adventures? As someone else suggested, a randomized top level adventure that I could repeat every day?

In general though, adventures are more fun when they're more creative. My two favorites are Gary's and Melvin's, just because they're so different. The chess adventures are also very clever. Maybe cut down on the adventures that involve a lot of chasing casters around the board? Those can drag on when there aren't any victory squares.

More of what we got! The adventure is great.

I'm guessing we will see more of the faux tournaments that we dabbled in a bit. Those could be fun and potentially very challenging.

But just more adventures and more of Gary's story would win me over.

How about a night fight with FoW style darkness? Extend a visibility range in a cone in front of each character, but you can't see what's behind you, either. Make a battle that brings back the old X-com feeling that something might be creeping around right behind you, or just around a corner.

Alternatively, grouping around a campfire late at night while those tree monsters come out of the woods at you would be pretty atmospheric as well. Kinda like Evil Dead. Last 12 turns and you "survive the night".

  12. There's so many great ideas in this thread and others, I don't have anything creative enough to muddy the waters with as yet. However, I would like to say that playing through the SP campaign numerous times my favourite missions were usually the "human" based ones. Prison break, Lord Batford's Manor, etc.

Adding on top of this terrain-themed list, imagine a full underwater adventure :)

Adventures with allied NPCs, and (very difficult) adventures which allow a party size of 4 are two ideas that come to mind..

That's got a ton of potential if you wanted to create a variety of themed maps that hold special map-wide conditions as well. Imagine your wizard's shock when he found out that this map specifically forbids the use of any fire spells. Alternately you could fight in a desert where ice spells did damage but left no encumber effects afterwards. I really love map-wide special conditions, because they make the map feel relevant and more like each tile is it's own sppecial kind of terrain effect, and not just an expanse of empty flooring. It's the sort of condition you'd be alerted to in the pre-battle flavor text screen before the battle is joined.
"Warning: this battle is underwater! Fire effects aren't permitted, and most fire spells won't even activate! try electrical effects to unlock new underwater benefits!"

Reminds me a bit of Laws in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. A neat thing for sure!

I would like adventures with henchmen (that could take one character slot maybe) that would function as monsters (ie shared deck, 1 activation per henchman).

I'd like to see more adventures with big bad bosses, like the Hydra or the Yellow Dragon. And it'd be neat if they were a little tougher.

I actually did the figures like this as a first pass, but it was too hard to read visually.
