I'm having a real hard time with weapon choices on my Wizard and Priest right now, as two kinda nifty ones came up in the goblin bazaar today. With the Priest it's pretty straightforward, as they all have the same token cost, the question just is which two of these three are the best choices: Healer's Spear - White Halberd - Lifesuck Spear With the Wizard it is much more complicated because, depending on the choice, I would need to free up power tokens. The three Staves in question are: Surging Staff - Greenspark Staff - Mighty Sparkping Staff It would certainly be easiest to just replace the Surging with the Sparkping Staff, especially as I'm also running Superb Electromancy. However, I would miss those step moves and the Sparkping is considerably better than the Greenspark Staff. In this scenario I would have to give up Insight for Untrained Evasion and Wand Of Seared Air for Ring Of Hot Spikes though. It should be noted that I'm running two more WoW, so giving up one of the three wouldn't be THAT much of a big deal.
I have the same situation on my priest and am also not sure what to do, so take my advice with a pinch of salt. The weapon you pick should really depend on the role your priest is playing. Lifesuck = vampiric, probably. It relies on getting up close and personal, which you may not want to do if your priest is squishy like mine. The Halberd is probably the best overall choice, esp if you run an Altruism build. The Healer's is what I'm currently running 2x of as I like using Tricky Stab to suss out blocks, etc, and also because my priest is mainly a healer/frenzy bot.
With these it's all about what you want from your priest - first one gives you more healing, second makes it easier to find that great card from the deck and the last one is one of the rare divine weapons that's all attacks. I don't think there's any clear wrong choices here. If you already have a number of Mass Frenzy items, I'd probably use the two spears. If you only have one Mass Frenzy card in your deck, I'd probably use the first two so you could use Inspires to dig it out of your deck faster. If you have no Mass Frenzies yet I'd also use the first two, since having six attacks is far less awesome if you aren't buffed ... unless again you are playing a dwarf priest and have access to Blind Rage as a racial. TLDR: it depends. Switch them around to get whatever you need for the fight.
I'm currently leaning towards the two spears and switching in Bleneth's Frenzy Medaillon as this would finally justify it. Or not, since I'm running a Warrior/Priest/Wizard party, so not sure... I would also have to give up Superb Cleansing for Trained Cleansing for this, meaning ALL my card draw would be gone, but I would get another attack. Or I could give up Trained Command for Novice Command instead. might be the better choice to free up that token.
It honestly didn't seem worth the token cost for a party with only one dedicated attacker. Now that I have the opportunity to change the support priest into more of an aggressive priest it's kinda different. EDIT: I guess the question now is if I'd rather give up two card draws while gaining another attack or one team move while suffering a drawback.
I use the same warrior/wizard/priest party and all three Divine Items my priest uses have a Mass Frenzy on them. One Mass Frenzy can easily account for 12-18 damage or more, and it turns small lifedrains into big attacks + big heals.
I've also been debating Powerful Sword vs Colossal Hammer. I found an Infused Greatclub in a chest recently and using the hammer alongside it would give me a grand total of 5 Obliterating Bludgeons. It might seem an obvious choice at first, but I'm not sure if I don't prefer 3 Powerful (11) attacks over 2 Obliterating (17) ones. I also dislike losing the reach of the stabs on the sword and the two junk cards attached to the hammer. Ok, so Barge probably isn't totally useless, but pretty situational anyway.
