So I'm utterly stumped on the two quests that require a full party of elven wizards against the gnomes. I attempted my Firestormers for a few tries but they simply got swamped by the gnome's mobility. I'm now leveling a second triad to 17 in an attempt to tackle it with more power. I'm thinking a cold setup but I'm looking for whatever advice you can give!
I believe I used a ridiculous amount of winds of war and firewall, I think I filled all 3 of my characters with Runestone. Hope this helps
These gnomes have a strong tendency to start out with Raging Strike in their hand. As a result, I expect to just give them the death of a thousand cuts with a whole lot of Winds of War into some Walls of Fire. I'm still building my setup myself. Your Ice idea sounds pretty good. I'm expecting to need things like my Ulalia's boots as well. With the exception of the spear throwers and the mushroom, I'm not going to use armor at all, I think, which will be a rarity for me. It's going to be one huge game of tag.
I don't have a full party of wizards at that level, but I found frost to be very useful against both the gnomes and the goblins, who have units that rush in and hit really hard. Winds of War pairs with that well, and you can set your own units up to do some leapfrogging - let the gnome reach your front unit, fall that unit back behind the others, repeat. They don't have infinite moves. Seems like the spearthrowers would be your biggest problem, but Winds of War can help with that too. I'm confused by you comment about leveling a second group. All elven wizards are the same - can't you just swap their equipment?
Firestorm based builds (for completing the 1hp quests) are best done at level 4 IMO, it's the first level you get armor and it keeps your deck VERY small to attempt to survive while you get resistant hide, then your wizards throw out a barrage of firestorms and win! So I'm keeping some at level 4 and others at 17ish for this.
Lots of lava and encumber effects finish them off pretty easily, but it'll take a group at a decent level.
Struggled after a few deaths but I finally beat the first one (only the last encounter gave me trouble. It's considerably harder with 3 different factions having multiple movement cards. Gonna play some different adventures then try the second one.
