Instead of the daily pvp chests automatically resetting after 18 hours, I would like a reset button to appear after 18 hours which I can then click at any time to reset the chests. This would reduce the tremendous time pressure involved with getting the purple chest as one can then work towards it over two or three days. It would give the players control over how they want to approach their pvp rewards and probably lead to more total pvp play. The people who want to just to get the first two gold chests each day can click the reset button every 18 hours and do that as normal. The overfarming of pvp loot (which I'm sure is the reason for the timer in the first place) would still not be a problem. I know that if I'm playing a little bit over two to three days that it is actually optimal to reset the chests and get the gold ones each time, but what is optimal and what makes players happy and less frustrated aren't always the same. It is a good thing to allow more 'casual' players to slowly advance towards the purple chest over a week if they want to, even if they'd probabilistically get more epics doing the gold chests each day. It's all about perceived value; I'd rather have the thrill of a hard-earned purple over a long time than feel lazy just grabbing the easy gold chests each day. Right now it takes me 7 hours to get the purple chest and if I do that every day I'll get burned out, yet I feel compelled to do it (it's my nature). I love pvp, but I'm often demoralized after the last gold chest. I'd actually end up playing more if those last non-gold chests didn't feel like such a huge commitment and I had the option to continue my progress towards the purple if I wanted to.
Already made suggestion to the same idea. However, my suggestion is a bit different. Psychologically speaking, we will never push that reset button. It will just be grinding the chest every few days. My suggestion is to keep the reset timer, however it will be shorter (12 hours) and reset back after every win. That way, if you don't keep playing every 12 hour, chest reset. Otherwise, pink chest is within everyone's reach. People who enjoy daily chest can still do so without having to feel like they clicked a button and forfeit the progress.
I would definitely prefer your suggestion to what is currently implemented in the beta, however it could be a problem if people get the first three gold chests, wait 12 hours, and then do that again. That would probably end up being the fastest way to get epics, which would be an unfortunate limitation on pvp play. I think people would still push the reset button if they didn't want to grind through that last long string of non-gold chests (I still think it's less frustrating that having the reset button pushed "for you" automatically).
Maybe the first 2 gold chest, first 3 is already a large time investment to do it every 12 hour. Might as well get the pink chest. The timer can always be adjusted, could be any time between 12-20 hour
Its fine the way it is purple chest is not meant to be gained by everyone besides it would be worse value to slowly grind up towards the pink one as far as i can tell.
Yes, it is worse value to grind up towards the epic chest. However, it is more satisfying to do so for a certain set of people, so I believe we should have that option. And "not meant to be gained by everyone" should not mean "restricted to people with enough free time to straight pvp for 5-7 hours in an 18 hour period". Adding a reset button doesn't actually hurt anything for those who like things the way they are right now.
I'll give you that its far more of a grind than a reward for playing well at he moment and i would certainly rather have it be something like win 2 games against players in a row or something. Meaning its skill based not time based.
That would be luck based, not skill based. You never know which opponent, which deck composition you are going to face. Having a deck that can counter everything (skill) still need to draw the right card (luck). I certainly don't want to encourage time based reward. But there are already too many layer of luck in this game, from loot to deck/draw/block... I'm just not feeling for another in this place.
Well i mean one option is to just remove it completely so people don't have to feel so bad about not getting it.
If it isn't meant for anyone but the "hardcore" why bother having it though? I mean already players seem fairly convinced by and large that the amount of time to the amount of reward makes grinding for this chest not worth it. Which let me translate for you, is the same as saying multiplayer isn't worth the trouble. When you lose you get nothing, and number of wins doesn't make the top pize worth it. It amounts to multiplayer essentially being a boasting contest, as opposed to something that feels worthwhile to the player. A player should be properly rewarded, and a player should feel like they are having fun. This is vital for any game.
are there people who ever get to 20 wins in a single day? this has always seemed impossible to me. even 20 games would be too many! Perhaps the purple chest could be a reward for just completing games (ie. a game which you have not resigned), this way even the players with bad luck (or starting equipment) could get to that chest after 20 completed games (won or lost). But still... 20... a day?!?!? I love the game but I can not possibly love any game that much.
Anything that involves rolling dice involves 'luck' so I wonder why so many people are bemoaning this all of a sudden.
Check out the daily MP leader-boards to see how many people are getting 20+ wins a day. Consistently, too. So not even improbable, never mind impossible.
Fun comes in many forms. Some players will get 'fun' from working through to 20 wins a day, others will do the "First Three Strategy" and others will want to play Custom MP games against their friends. All equally valid facets of the game.
